Gillespie County Judge Mark Stroeher has announced that the burn ban for Gillespie County has been lifted.
The notice was issued at 1:35 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11.
The action to lift the burn ban came after consultation with County Fire Marshal Steve Olfers, who said the chiefs of the rural fire departments in the county were in agreement that recent moisture and forecasts for higher humidity and the possibility for additional rain and more stable conditions for the coming weekend present an opportunity for people to take care of some of their needed burning.
“Even though we are still in drought conditions, with a significant potential for wildfires, the Commissioners Court, along with the fire departments in the county, want to work with the general public to accomplish some necessary burning while conditions are more favorable,” Stroeher said. “Everyone is requested to use extreme caution when burning.”
