SMS to celebrate Catholic Schools week
St. Mary’s Catholic School will be celebrating the theme of “Catholic Schools: Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”
St. Mary’s students joined together with parish members to open the week on Sunday, Jan. 26.
The week began with honoring the St. Mary’s parish and students wearing their uniforms to Mass on Sunday to show support of Catholic schools. Students and alumni also helped lead Masses.
On Monday, a community parade will be held down San Antonio Street to help celebrate the community. Pianist Duncan Holmes will play at 2:15 p.m. in the Holy Family Center.
Tuesday, Jan. 28, Holmes will play at 2:15 p.m. in the Holy Family Center as a way to celebrate the community.
SMS will celebrate the nation on Wednesday, by wearing patriotic dress. Students also participated in the National Geography Bee in the Holy Family Center in the morning. Following, is a wax museum from the second-grade classes.
Regular student Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Thursday and will include a vocations presentation. Families are invited to attend and have donuts with their students.
The Catholic Scientists will hold a presentation in the Holy Family Center for seventh and eighth grade students from 9 a.m.-11 a.m.
Career day for the junior high students will be held in the high school building from 1-3 p.m.
Friday will be a half day for students and students are allowed to have free dress.
Clifton Fifer will give a presentation to junior high students at 8:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Center and at 9:30 a.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade.
First through fifth grades will host an awards ceremony at 8:30 a.m. in the gym and at 9:30 a.m. for junior high.
A family picnic will be from 11 a.m.-noon. Those participating must bring a sack lunch.
Throughout the week, a book fair will be held from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Challenge Lab.
Registration is now open for the 2020-2021 school year.
