Livestock show season wraps up

Gillespie County exhibitors competed in their final livestock show of the season March 16-30 when they took part in Rodeo Austin.

Fifty-four Gillespie County 4-Hers exhibited 57 entries, including 14 steers, nine heifers, 13 turkeys, nine goats, 10 market barrows and eight lambs.

Three youth competed in the calf scramble.

Entries from the Fredericksburg FFA included 14 market lambs, 10 market goats, 16 market barrows, five market steers, one breeding heifer and one turkey.

The Livestock Judging team also competed.

Thirteen Harper FFA members showed 16 entries in Austin.

LIVESTOCK JUDGING

• Senior team #2 (entered under Fredericksburg FFA) finished fourth overall.

Team members included Eli DeLong, Kayla Feller, Davis Reeh and Faith Geistweidt.

DeLong was the 10th high individual.

• Senior team #1 (entered under Fredericksburg FFA) finished 15th overall.

Team members included Wyatt Geistweidt, Jacob Jenschke, Caleb Behrends and Brant Bowers.

Geistweidt was the 11th high individual.

• Junior team #1 (entered under 4-H) finished first overall.

Team members were Logan McCarver, Brodie Roeder, Brylie Roeder and Jace Helfrich.

McCarver was the 10th high individual.

• Junior team #2 finished eighth place overall.

Team members were Ethan Marschall, Stran Mohr, Cade Lehne and Owen Staudt.

Marschall was the 12th high individual.
