FISD hosts 10 schools, 200 athletes in competition with grit, smiles, hugs

Students from Fredericksburg and 10 other area schools took part on Friday in the Battlin’ Billie Challenge at Fredericksburg High School Stadium as part of the Special Olympics competition.

More than 200 athletes competed in modified track and field events and were awarded medals for their efforts.

Karen Watson organized the event for the Fredericksburg Independent School District, bringing together instructors, athletes, families and fans.

“This is the best thing we do all year,” said Lance Moffett, FISD athletic director.
