Homecoming ahead for current and former Billies

King, Queen to be crowned; dance, Rotary party on tap

Fredericksburg High School is celebrating Homecoming this week with a football game, crowning of a king and queen and other activities.

Activities will culminate on Friday night, Sept. 20, when the Battlin’ Billie football team will host Wimberley in a 7:30 p.m. game in the FHS Stadium.

During halftime, the homecoming queen and king will be crowned.

Nominees for queen include:

• Sydney Holster, daughter of Robert and Michelle Holster. She will be escorted by her father, Robert Holster.

• Cathryn Huff, daughter of Geoffrey and Erin Huff. She will be escorted by her father, Geoffrey Huff.

• Megan Jinright, daughter of Jim and Monica Jinright. She will be escorted by her father, Jim Jinright.

• Elizabeth Lindsay, daughter of Jay and Amy Lindsay. She will be escorted by her father, Jay Lindsay.

• Emma Travland, daughter of Karen Travland. She will be escorted by her mother, Karen Travland.

Nominees for king include:

• Dylan Ahrens, son of James and Alisa Ahrens. He will be escorted by his mother, Alisa Ahrens.

• Jarrett Beard, son of Robert and Tiffany Beard. He will be escorted by his mother, Tiffany Beard.

• Travis Cates, son of Erin Cates and the late Thomas Cates. He will be escorted by his mother, Erin Cates.

• Tucker Elliott, son of Daniel and Jill Elliott. He will be escorted by his mother, Jill Elliott.

• Graham Hammond, son of Jeff and Barclay Hammond. He will be escorted by his mother, Barclay Hammond.

The new king and queen will be crowned by last year’s royalty, Brant Bowers and Mia Torres.

Flowers for the court and the queen are provided by Blumenhandler Florist.

New this year are 2019 Homecoming Court representatives from the freshmen, sophomore and junior classes.

They will be introduced prior to the king and queen nominees.

Freshmen court representatives are Catherine Acosta, daughter of Nati and Irma Acosta, and Brodie Zenner, son of Zachary and Catherine Zenner.

Sophomore court representatives are Jenitzy Aguilar, daughter of Jose and Sendy Aguilar, and Rusty Price, son of Travis and Jennifer Price.

Junior court representatives are Brittley Bowers, daughter of Chip and Audri Bowers, and Kieran Ferriere, son of Andre and Kathy Ferriere.

 

Dance, other events

A Homecoming Dance for students will be held from 8-11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, in the FHS Gym.

Tickets are on sale for $10.

The tickets are on sale at school this week, and will be sold at the football game on Friday night until halftime.

No tickets will be sold at the door on Saturday night.

Also taking place this week is a hall decorating contest with the theme, “Go Billies. Beat Wimberley.”

Judging will take place on Thursday afternoon.

The public is invited to stop by after school and view the decorated hallways.

 

Homecoming Party

The Rotary Club of Fredericksburg will host an FHS Homecoming Party from 4 p.m. to kick-off on Friday evening on the campus (near Texas Highway 16).

Featured will be food trucks and tents for dining, classic car rides, face painting, dunking booth, obstacle course, bounce castle for kids and more.

Emergency responders will have vehicles on display and there will also be a “Sledge-A-Car” event.

There is no entry fee, but food truck meals are $10.

Cash and credit card donations will be accepted at the ticket booth and for festival activities.
