Holy Ghost to host FHS baccalaureate services
Baccalaureate services for Fredericksburg High School seniors will be at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 21.
The annual event, sponsored by the Gillespie County Ministerial Association (GCMA), will be held at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, located at 115 E. San Antonio St.
The community is invited to join graduates and their families for the services.
Graduating seniors are asked to bring their graduation robes and meet at 5:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, located at the corner of San Antonio and Adams streets.
Austin Loza, minister of youth and recreation at First Baptist Church, will bring the evening message. The Bethany Lutheran Hand Bell Choir will lead a special processional with the graduates and clergy.
Austin Mackintosh, youth director at Oak Hills Church, and a team of Oak Hills musicians will provide the music.
“Baccalaureate is an old Latin word for a sermon and worship service designed specifically for graduates,” Rev. Bobby Vitek, president of the GCMA and pastor of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church said. “We will sing, pray and hear a timely message based on various scripture passages.”
The Gillespie County Ministerial Association is an ecumenical group of clergies from many local congregations. Worship leaders include clergy and youth ministers from a wide variety of denominations and nondenominational congregations.
Rev. Clint Pluenneke who serves Holy Ghost and St. Paul Lutheran, Cave Creek, will coordinate the event.
