Edwards Plateau Historical Association will hold its semiannual meeting on Saturday, May 4, at the Wedding Oak Winery in San Saba.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and speakers will begin their presentations at 10 a.m.
Coffee and soft drinks will be available mid-morning.
A catered meal will be offered at lunch at a cost of $15.
Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP to Frederica Wyatt, P.O. Box 271, Junction, TX 76849, by April 30.
Persons may send a check or pay at the door.
She can also be reached by email at fwyatt30@cebridge. net or by phone at 325-446-2477.
Almost all the stories presented at these meetings have been researched and documented by mostly local folks and some have even been made into historical markers.
The purpose is to stimulate interest in local history and preserve it, which is partially being done via The Historian, published volumes of the meetings’ papers.
Fifteen volumes have now been printed with a wealth of historical information.
Stories of survival, battles, feuds, social and political influences, and even the weather are chronicled in these volumes and they may be purchased at this event, or found in almost all the libraries of the towns in the region.
Historical books of different areas and authors will be for sale, as well as “The Edwards Plateau Historian” volumes.
A short business meeting will take place either during or immediately after lunch.
The Wedding Oak Winery is located on U.S. Highway 190 (Wallace/Main Street).
