Canto ‘Christmas Events’ slated Dec. 4
Canto Chamber Choir will present its annual concert, “Christmas Events,” on Monday, Dec. 4, to usher in Christmas and support The Good Samaritan Center.
This year’s concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Hill Country Church (formerly Hill Country Evangelical Free Church), located at 107 East Lower Crabapple Road.
General admission tickets are $25 per person (of which $20 per ticket is tax deductible).
Tickets are available for purchase at three locations around Fredericksburg, including The Good Samaritan Center, Memorial Presbyterian Church and Hill Country Church.
Tickets can also be requested by calling The Good Samaritan Center at 830-990-8651, or online at www.goodsamfbg.org.
“Each year the Canto Chamber Choir is delighted to present our annual Christmas program benefitting The Good Samaritan Center,” said Susan Rees, Canto choir member and board president. “For the past 14 years, all proceeds from Canto ticket sales have gone to help the center provide services for our neighbors in need.”
“This concert has become my favorite part of the Christmas season,” said John Willome, executive director of the center. “I still remember my first year to hear it. I was just stunned. The choir moved me, and now it just wouldn’t be Christmas without hearing Canto.”
“We feel the same way,” Rees said, “and we can’t wait to be a big part of our community’s start to such a wonderful holy season.”
The Good Samaritan Center is a unique charitable clinic providing medical, dental and mental health services to the uninsured working poor of Gillespie and three surrounding counties, Willome explained.
Canto presents concerts at other times of the year, but for many, it’s the Christmas concert that defines the beginning of the season, Rees said.
She said that many people have told her that they feel the true spirit of Christmas only after coming to the concert.
