Bethany Lutheran Foundation awards grants, celebrates 10th anniversary

Bethany Lutheran Foundation of Fredericksburg, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, recently marked its 10-year anniversary with a luncheon program to celebrate a decade of making outreach grants to local non-profit organizations and announce its 2018 recipients.

The Foundation, whose mission is to “Advance and Support the Discipleship of Jesus Christ,” was established in January 2007 with a bequest to Bethany Lutheran Church from the late Alma Braeutigam.

The foundation received additional bequests from the estates of Bob and Mitzie Buttle and Kathleen Rader and continues to be supported through individual donations and memorials.

The foundation is managed by a seven-member board of directors elected by Bethany Lutheran Church members.

Current board members are Will Stehling, president; Linda Simonsen, vice president; Bill Heath, treasurer; Tim Dahlstrom, secretary, and Robin Duderstadt, Cristol Schoessow and Gary McCready.

Each year, the foundation accepts grant applications from non-profit organizations that support local benevolences and the mission of the foundation.

The foundation’s Ministry and Mission Committee evaluates the grant applications and awards all funds available for distribution.
