Baccalaureate services for Fredericksburg High School seniors will be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, at Bethany Lutheran Church.
The annual event is sponsored by the Gillespie County Ministerial Association.
Graduating seniors are asked to bring their graduation robes and meet at 5:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall on the east side of the church.
The community is invited to join the graduates and their families for this annual service.
The Rev. Clint Pluenneke, pastor of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cave Creek, and youth minister at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, will bring the evening message for the seniors.
Bethany’s praise team, Agape Road, led by Matt White, will provide music.
Landon Priess, a graduating senior and member of the Fredericksburg High School choir, will sing a solo during worship, and Annabel Wilkinson will play the processional on the tracker organ.
“Baccalaureate is an old Latin word for a sermon and worship service designed specifically for graduates,” said the Rev. George Lumpkin, president of the Gillespie County Ministerial Association and senior pastor of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. “We will sing, pray and hear a timely message based on various scripture passages.”
The Gillespie County Ministerial Association is an ecumenical group of clergy from many local congregations, explained the Rev. Casey Zesch, vice-president of the GCMA and senior pastor of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Zesch, the Rev. Kevin Haug and White are planning the event.
Worship leaders will include clergy and youth ministers from a wide variety of denominations and nondenominational congregations.
More information is available from Zesch at 997-2069.
