‘Light the Night’ Christmas parade to roll this Friday
The Light the Night Christmas Parade, presented by H-E-B, will roll down Fredericksburg’s historic Main Street at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.
Grand Marshals for the parade include this year’s Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce Achievement Award recipients.
Reserved bleacher seating is sold out, but seating along the rest of the parade route is free, as always. Attendees should bring folding chairs and blankets.
Once again, the first 30-minutes of the parade will be live broadcast on CBS Austin with cameras at both Marktplatz and the Admiral Nimitz Museum. CBS Austin will also air its evening news broadcasts live from Fredericksburg.
The parade begins at the intersection of Main and Crockett streets, proceeding east along Main to the intersection of Washington Street, then making a U-turn to travel west on Main to the intersection of Edison Street.
The event will also include AfterGlow activities on Marktplatz from 3-9 p.m.
Admission is free, including the Holiday Sharing Village, with shopping and activities presented by more than 20 local nonprofit organizations in the Adelsverein Halle.
There will also be local food and wines for sale.
Following the parade, the Hill Country Film Festival will present a free holiday-themed film screening in the Oktoberfest Hall.
There will also be free visits and photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus at the new Peppermint Platz photo backdrop.
Attendees are asked to bring their own camera for photos with Santa.
The parade, a production of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce, is a long-running, holiday signature event.
The parade takes place with the assistance of the City of Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, Main Street business owners and the parade sponsors.
Proceeds help fund the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce’s mission of creating a positive and growing business community, said a spokesman for the Chamber.
