“Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr.” is the condensed live stage version of the Broadway hit and the 1989 animated film from Disney Studios.
In the film and also in the stage version, mermaid Ariel longs to leave her ocean home — and her fins — behind and live in the world above. She has fallen in love with a handsome human, Prince Eric.
Eventually, in exchange for her “beautiful” voice, Ariel’s wish to be human is granted by the evil sea witch, Ursula. As part of the deal she only has three days to kiss the prince and win his love, or be doomed forever.
The stage version features a number of songs from the film, including “Part of Your World,” “Kiss the Girl” and “Under the Sea.”
Songwriters Howard Ashman and Alan Menken composed the songs, as well as the score for the film.
