Company gives management pitch to run golf operation
Representatives from Touchstone Golf provided a detailed presentation to the Fredericksburg City Council in their regular Monday meeting.
The council is currently working on a lease agreement with Touchstone Golf to manage Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course.
Touchstone’s Executive Vice President Doug Harker touched on their accounting and administration processes, as well as their experience in managing municipal properties.
Harker described what they believe are Lady Bird’s biggest opportunities.
“It’s just beautiful event space …. We are looking to really market that space,” Harker said. “Not only for golf tournament events but food and beverage services, too, but also non-golf events.”
Touchstone plans to create “stay and play” packages for the town’s visitors.
Harker mentioned a little bit of a challenge with it due to the weekend occupancy in the city, but they still have five days during the week to design packages more successfully.
Increasing membership among locals is also another main goal, he said.
