Local healthcare facilities put focus on family, comfort

Body

In 1965, Mary Knopp began taking care of her Uncle Ben in the comforts of her own home. It didn’t take long for her family to recognize she should open up a facility to care for the elderly residents in Fredericksburg.

“She was so good at what she did and it just grew from taking care of one person to now taking care of hundreds at a time,” owner Chase Perry said.

Today, her great-grandson Chase and her granddaughter Jane Perry help operate Knopp Healthcare.

The healthcare business specializes in the traditional nursing home, independent living and rehabilitation.

Runs in the family

Knopp Healthcare has been family owned and operated since its inception, something in which the current owners pride themselves.

“It’s the same old-fashioned ethics and values, but also we are innovators as we are doing new and creative things,” Perry said. “Fredericksburg has an aging demographic, so we aren’t really going anywhere because there is always a need.”
