The Fredericksburg Police Department responded to 375 calls for service, made 202 traffic stops and arrested a total of seven people during the week of Oct. 21-27.
Arrests
On Tuesday, Oct. 22, a patrol officer was dispatched to a traffic accident at Friendship Lane and U.S. Highway 87 South. One of the drivers, Cesar Briseno-Chavez, 32, of Dallas, had an active out-of-county warrant. He was arrested for the warrant, evading arrest detention, and transported to the Gillespie County Jail.
A patrol officer arrived in the 1300 block of East Main Street on Tuesday, Oct. 22, to assist with a traffic stop. The male driver lacked a valid driver’s license and had previous convictions for driving without a valid license. David McClure, 27, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for driving with an invalid license with previous convictions and taken to jail.
On Thursday, Oct. 24, a patrol officer was sent to the 1000 block of Texas 16 South to look into a slashed tire. The complainant identified a man who was found in a nearby building smelling of alcohol. The man admitted to consuming and alcohol and to using a knife to slash the tire. After a field sobriety test, Sabastian Ramon De Luna, 22, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.
An intoxicated man in a vehicle was reported in the 1300 block of East Main Street on Saturday, Oct. 26. A patrol officer found the man in a stopped vehicle, with the engine running. The man smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and there was an open alcohol container in the vehicle. After field sobriety tests, Jordan Dane Knight, 37, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for driving while intoxicated with an open container and taken to jail. A patrol officer was dispatched to the 500 block of West Main Street regarding a man who had been drinking in the area all day, Sunday, Oct. 27. Despite the smell of alcohol and slurred speech, the man denied consuming alcoholic beverages. After field sobriety tests, Brandon Lee Sharp, of Kerrville, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to jail.
On Sunday, Oct. 27, a driver didn’t stop when a patrol office tried to pull over a vehicle in the 500 block of Friendship Lane. A rolling pursuit ended in the 100 block of Industrial Loop, where a probable cause search found illegal contraband. Angrid Alus Belton, 42, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for evading arrest with a vehicle, and for possession of a controlled substance and marijuana. She was transported to jail.
A patrol officer was dispatched on Sunday, Oct. 27, to the 1000 block of Texas 16 South, for a welfare concern. A woman outside the building appeared to be intoxicated and lost. The officer smelled alcohol and the woman’s speech was slurred. She admitted that a nearby alcoholic beverage was hers. Tara Ann Boyd, 40, of Fredericksburg, was arrested for public intoxication and taken to jail.
Burglary
A burglary was reported at 139 East Main Street on Thursday, Oct. 24. The officer was told at least $10,000 was stolen from the safe. The complainant was asked to make a list of employees to interview and to share any surveillance videos. The report will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation.
Fraud
On Monday, Oct. 21, an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of South Washington Street for a possible fraud. The credit card machine had given a possible fraud message and then declined the card of a woman trying to pay for a room. The complainant wanted any potential credit card fraud reported, but the officer explained that if it wasn’t the woman’s card, the holder of the card had to be the one to report that. No further action was needed.
An officer was dispatched to the 300 block of West Burbank Street on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in regard to a possible fraud involving paperwork for the purchase of a firearm. The complainant did not know if they had been charged, and was told to call back if they were. A report was made, and a case number was provided.
On Saturday, Oct. 26, an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of West College Street to speak with a complainant about a possible scam. The complainant had attempted to buy a car advertised on Facebook and was asked to send $1,400 through Zelle to hold the vehicle. The names of the Facebook and Zelle accounts did not match. The Facebook account owner requested a second payment, which the complainant refused and then tried and failed to reach the seller. The report will be forwarded to the Criminal Investigations Division in an attempt to get in contact with the suspect.
