Zonta International held its 5th District 10 Governor’s Summit on Saturday, Oct. 19 in the Admiral Nimitz Ballroom with more than 100 women attending from Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. District Governor Shelly Baumgartner, at left, gave opening comments to the group, which held sessions on advocacy, public relations, service and a live auction. The organization also recognized individuals and highlighted its year. The local Zonta International chapter hosted the event which featured a welcome from Mayor Jeryl Hoover, board member Vicki Taylor and Club President Liz Wunderlich. At the microphone, local resident Lindy Segall expresses appreciation for Zonta’s part in creating a plaque to recognize the Women’s Army Service Pilots contributions to the World War II effort. — Standard-Radio Post/Ken Esten Cooke
