Funeral service announcements

Information on funerals that occur after Aug. 13 will appear under this heading.

 

RAMON HERRERA

Ramon Herrera, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 17, and continues Monday, Aug. 18, from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

A rosary service will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at the funeral chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Ave Maria Hospice, St. Mary’s Women’s ACTS, or to the charity of choice. 

 

ROBERT W. LANGEHENNIG

Robert W. (Bob) Langehennig, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5-7 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 15, from 7:30-10 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Linda Sue Vaughn Crenwelge

Linda Sue Vaughn Crenwelge, 55, of College Station, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 15, from 5-8 p.m., at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street, Bryan.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m., at Hillier Funeral Home.

Larry Dyer

Larry Dyer, 88, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m.

The family will receive friends Saturday from noon-1 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

Private burial of the cremains will be held at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Optimist Club of Fredericksburg or to the charity of choice.

Ervin Eckert

Ervin Eckert, 90, of Doss, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason Funeral Home in Mason where visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug. 13, from 5-8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m., at the Hilda United Methodist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hilda Building Fund, Doss Volunteer Fire Department or to the Friends of Doss School.

Mrs. Alois W. Kunz


MRS. ALOIS W. KUNZ

Mrs. Alois W. Kunz, 86, nee Madeline Margaret Segner of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Tuesday evening, Aug. 5.

Mrs. Kunz was born Oct. 22, 1927, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Otto Segner and Ida Nebgen Segner. She married Alois W. Kunz on June 15, 1947, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 1990.

Survivors include one son, one daughter and spouses, Chris and Rhonda Kunz of San Antonio and Susan and Ferris Keller of Pflugerville; five grandchildren, and one great-grandson.

Bertha Klinksiek Malochleb

Bertha Klinksiek Malochleb, 90, of Kerrville, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in a Kerrville hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 11, at 2 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Kerrville with Greg Cummings officiating.

Interment followed in the Garden of Memories.

Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home.

Mrs. Malochleb was born July 4, 1924, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Hugo Klinksiek and Olga Bohnert Klinksiek. She married Edward Alexander Malochleb on Oct. 23, 1942, in San Antonio.  He preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1993.

She was a retired bookkeeper for a real estate developer and had been a member of Peterson Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Malochleb is survived by two daughters, Caroline Kensing of Fredericksburg and Peggy Contreras of Kingsland; seven grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Peterson Auxiliary or Dietert Center Meals on Wheels.

Forest O. Spriggs

Forest O. Spriggs, 87, of San Antonio, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014.

Visitation will begin Friday, Aug. 15, at 9 a.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, followed by the funeral service at 9:30 a.m.

Interment follows at Mission Burial Park North.

Thomas Edward (Tom) Staudt

Thomas Edward (Tom) Staudt, 62, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.

A funeral mass was held today, Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, National Brain Tumor Society, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Ruby Alma Schneider Turner, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg Billie Boosters, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Alton D. Bell

Mrs. Alton D. Bell, 97, the former Clara Lina Schmidt Herbort, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 1, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Interment followed in the Meusebach Creek Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Bell was born May 30, 1917, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Ernst Schmidt and Meta Herbort Schmidt. She married Alvin E. Herbort on July 25, 1934. He preceded her in death on Jan. 28, 1960. 

She then married Alton D. Bell on Dec. 16, 1977. He died Oct. 8, 1994.

Over the years, Mrs. Bell worked as a chef and baker at Pioneer Village Restaurant, Andy’s Diner and Deluxe Restaurant. She also worked at Market Produce and was member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.
