Funeral service announcements

Information on funerals that occur after Oct. 1 will appear under this heading.

 

GEORGE W. DAVIS

George W. Davis, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Oct. 3, 2014.

Visitation was held on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 4-6 p.m. and continues on Monday, Oct. 6, from 7 a.m.-12:15 p.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel until 12:15 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 6 and from 1-2 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church where the funeral will begin at 2 p.m.

Graveside services and interment will follow on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m., at the Forest Park West Cemetery in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Memorials may be made to Memorial Presbyterian Church, The Good Samaritan Center or to the charity of choice.

Gloria Joy Glazener


GLORIA JOY GLAZENER

Gloria Joy Glazener, 81, nee Hightower, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 29, at 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. J. Jason Fry officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening.

Mrs. Glazener was born Jan. 13, 1933, in Groesbeck, the daughter of Edward B. Hightower and Dena Faye Masters Hightower. She married James (Jim) Glazener on June 20, 1952, in Texas City, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Glazener is survived by two daughters, Shelley Weaver of Fredericksburg and Robbin Embury of Fort Defiance, Arizona, and one son, Scott Glazener of Canyon Lake.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law, Edward (Bubba) and Kathy Hightower of Santa Fe, Texas.

Charles Lindsey Harris

Charles Lindsey Harris, 72, of Stonewall, died Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014.

Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 1 p.m. at the Stonewall Community Cemetery under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Harris was born May 13, 1942, in Morgan City, Louisiana, the son of Charles Leo Harris and Ruby Harris.

He is survived by one son, one daughter and spouses, John and Angelique Moore of Angleton, and April and Gary LeCompte of Jones Creek; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Donna Bodden of Oregon and Vicki Campbell of Arkansas; two step-sisters, Terri Cavanaugh and Marcia Maderious, and one step-brother, Bill Rowe of St. Paul, Minnesota.

His parents preceded him in death.

Linda (Spooky) Hartmann


LINDA (SPOOKY) HARTMANN

Linda (Spooky) Hartmann, 69, nee Stearns, of Irving, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2014.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where a memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Elliott Pancoast officiating.

Ms. Hartmann was born Nov. 16, 1944, in Llano, the daughter of Roe V. Stearns and Lila King Stearns.

She is survived by one daughter, one son and spouses, Nicole and Greg Andrews of Irving, and Ben and Lena Hartmann of Spicewood; two grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Gay and Pete Morrelli of Liberty Hill.

Mrs. Hilmar Klaehn


MRS. HILMAR KLAEHN

Mrs. Hilmar Klaehn, 91, nee Adalena Wendel, of Seguin, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 2, at 9:30 a.m. at Tres Hewell Mortuary in Seguin with the Rev. Paul J. Zwarich officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Harper Community Cemetery in Harper.

Mrs. Klaehn was born Dec. 4, 1922, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Lorenz Wendel and Alma Oehler Wendel. She married Hilmar Klaehn 62 years ago and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Klaehn is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Ronnie and Betty Klaehn, of Seguin; Felicia (Duddy) and Harold Klaerner, New Braunfels, and Gary and Gretel Klaehn, Harper.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; her twin sister, Magdalena Wendel of Harper, and two sisters-in-law, Wanda Lott, Fredericksburg, and Mae Petri, Blanco.

Dorothy Koepke

Dorothy Koepke, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation, the Helen Tainter Circle or the charity of choice.

Karl-Heinz J. Krenz


KARL-HEINZ J. KRENZ

Karl-Heinz J. Krenz, 65, of Wimberley, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley.

Interment with full military honors followed at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Krenz was born Aug. 28, 1949, in West Berlin, Germany, the son of Karl and Ursula Krenz. His family arrived at Ellis Island, New York, on July 4, 1959, and settled in Fredericksburg.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War.

After graduating from Texas State University in San Marcos, Krenz embarked on a career in management in the oil and gas industry and the manufacturing of medical devices.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Billy J. Krenz; and three daughters and spouses, including Diane and Doug White of Midland, Michigan; Pamela and Elvis Anderson, Houston, and Jamie and Vineet Gupta, Watertown, Minnesota.

Mrs. Walter Ostendorf

Mrs. Walter Ostendorf, 76, nee Lenora Ella Carline Mueller of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014.

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Ave Maria Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Sharee Rosalin Creech Shermer


SHAREE ROSALIN CREECH SHERMER

Sharee Rosalin Creech Shermer, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014.

A memorial mass was celebrated Saturday, Sept. 20, at 9:30 a.m. at the Old St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mission Park Funeral Chapels of San Antonio.

Mrs. Shermer was born May 6, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of James and Dorothy Creech.

 She was talented in both the visual and performing arts and worked in many different mediums. She was also professionally trained as both a pianist and in voice as a soprano.

She sang in the church choir and performed with the Fredericksburg Theater Compay.

Mrs. Shermer is survived by three sons and five daughters, including Dayton D.  Shermer III (Debbie), David G. Shermer, Brian J. Shermer, Karyn Shermer Saner, Terese Shermer, Laurel Shermer Walker (Tam), Angel Shermer Merry (James) and DeDe Shermer Albus (Stan).

MRS. WALTER OSTENDORF

Mrs. Walter Ostendorf, 76, nee Lenora Ella Carline Mueller of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2014.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 10 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 5-7 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 7:30-8:15 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home and from 9-10 a.m., at the church.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Ave Maria Hospice or to the charity of choice.

DOROTHY KOEPKE

Dorothy Koepke, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 1, at Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
