Gary Wayne Itri, 63, of Fredericksburg and formerly of California, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014.
A funeral mass was celebrated Thursday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Boulette officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.
Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday morning and early afternoon.
Itri was born Feb. 9, 1950, in Fredericksburg, the son of Henry John Itri and Marie Williamson Itri.
At the age of 12 years, Itri’s musical career began as a member of a boy band, “The Crossfires”. Music producer Richie Podoler then brought the band to Los Angeles to record.
Years later, he played bass with Roger Miller, performing once at the White House.
Other groups he was part of included “Blues Image,” “Hot,” “The Dillards,” and “S.S. Fools.”
