Philip Dyer


PHILIP DYER

Philip Dyer, 55, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Blanco, died Monday, July 14, 2014.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Private interment of the ashes is planned.

Dyer was born Sept. 10, 1958, in Renton, Washington, the son of John and Mary Dyer.

Prior to moving to the Texas Hill Country, he was a computer programmer and spent the majority of his life in the Pacific Northwest.

After working at CJ’s and Stripes in the Blanco area, Dyer took a job at Ace in Johnson City.

He is survived by three brothers and sisters-in-law, including Richard and JoAnn Dyer, Stephen and Linda Dyer and Alan and Kimberly Dyer.

Dyer’s parents preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Norma Sarah Frantzen


NORMA SARAH FRANTZEN

Norma Sarah Frantzen, 96, nee Wendel, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 11, 2014.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 17, at 10 a.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening, July 16.

Mrs. Frantzen was born Oct. 25, 1917, in Kimble County, the daughter of Arnold Heinrich Wendel and Elsie Filter Wendel. She married Henry Frantzen on April 8, 1942. He preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1994.

The Frantzens farmed and ranched in the Luckenbach community.

She is survived by two sons, two daughters and spouses, including Patrick and Cindy Frantzen, Joe and Annie Frantzen and Alice and Dennis Segner, all of Fredericksburg, and Betty and Vic Hildebran of Uvalde.

Otis Ward Herman III

Otis Ward Herman III, 68, of Fowlerton, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 26, at 12 noon at the Tilden Civic Center, on the grounds of the Tilden Lions Club Arena, located at the corner of State Highways 16 and 72 in Tilden.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton.

Mrs. Eugene J. Litton

Mrs. Eugene J. Litton, 92, nee Dorothy M. Hollaway of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 18, 2014, in a Houston hospital.

Funeral services are being held today, Wednesday, July 23, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Stonewall Baptist Church or to First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg.

David Lewis Maley

David Lewis Maley, 71, of Fort Worth, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Harris Methodist Hospital.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, July 12, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Survivors include his twin sister and spouse, Judith and Terry Mashburn.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Ethel J. Patterson, 83, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, July 14, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, July 22, at 1 p.m. at the Houston National Cemetery in Houston.

James E. Talley


JAMES E. TALLEY

James E. Talley, 81, of Fredericksburg, died on his birthday, Monday, July 14, 2014.

A memorial service was held Saturday, July 19, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. William Karlson officiating.

Talley was born July 14, 1933, in Paul’s Valley, Oklahoma, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Tip Talley. He married Charlotte Lee Jester who preceded him in death in January 2009.

Talley’s family moved to Texas in his youth, settling in the Corpus Christi area. He joined the United States Army in the early 1950’s and was promoted to corporal while stationed in Germany.

After marriage, the Talleys lived in Ingleside and he was employed at the Reynolds Metals Co. aluminum plant.

Eventually, he became self-employed with JET Contracting, an industrial mowing business with contracts to maintain the local DuPont Chemical plant and Exxon tank farms and pipelines.

Mrs. Cecil Welch

Mrs. Cecil Welch, 96, nee Freda J. Clark of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Graveside services and interment were held Friday, July 18, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with the Rev. Clark Rocca officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Welch was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter Floyd Clark and Mae Davis Clark. She married Cecil Welch on July 22, 1942, in Oklahoma. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Steve Watson, and a son, John Clark Welch, all of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by five siblings, including Ernest Clark, Jim Clark, Florence Vaughn, Lou Crawford and Mildred Clark.

Jack Aubrey White


JACK AUBREY WHITE

Jack Aubrey White, 84, of Keene and formerly of Brady, died Wednesday, July 16, 2014, in Burleson.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in Brady with interment following at Live Oak Cemetery in Brady.

White was born Aug. 8, 1929, in Cooper, the son of Ben L. White and Mae Henson White. He married Nelda Jean Jeffreys on Aug. 15, 1947. She preceded him in death on Sept. 11, 2012.

The Whites ranched at Brady before moving to Missouri where they operated a plumbing business.

They moved to Odessa in 1953, and he spent the next 58 years as an oilfield engineer/supervisor throughout west Texas and eastern New Mexico.

In 1982, the Whites moved back to Brady, then eventually to Mason and Fredericksburg.

After her death, he moved to Keene.

Mrs. Eugene J. Litton, 92, nee Dorothy M. Holloway of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 18, 2014, in a Houston hospital.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 22, from 5-8 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will continue Wednesday, July 23, from 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 23, at 1 p.m., in the chapel at Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Stonewall Baptist Church or to First Baptist Church in Fredericksburg.
