Larry Steve Klein

 

Larry Steve Klein, 59, of Austin and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, in an Austin hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Lynden Maurer

 

Mrs. Lynden Maurer, 72, nee Barbara Jean Loth of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 17, 2013.

A funeral mass was celebrated today, Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Private family interment of the cremains will take place at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Wilburn (Mac) McIntire


MAC McINTIRE

 

Wilburn (Mac) McIntire, 87, of Harper, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

Graveside services and interment were held Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at the Harper Community Cemetery in Harper with the Rev. Richard Martin officiating.

McIntire was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Stamford, the son of Aubry McIntire and Edna May Singleton McIntire. He married Thelma Ruth Goff McIntire on July 7, 1946, in Anson. She preceded him in death.

McIntire was a veteran of World War II, serving in the 90th Infantry Division, and receiving a number of awards and citations for his service.

After the war, he and his wife moved to Houston where they owned and operated a Dr. Scholl’s store for 30 years.

They moved to Harper in 1983.

McIntire is survived by a son, Mark McIntire of Harper, one grandchild and four great-grandchildren.

John R. Montgomery, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, May 20, 2013.

Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to Ave Maria Hospice, 12078 S. State Highway 16, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624 or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Claudio Ramirez

 

Claudio Alonzo Ramirez, 62, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 10, 2013.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday and Tuesday, May 13-14.

Funeral services and interment were scheduled to take place in Mexico.

Ramirez was born Feb. 27, 1951, in Rositz, Mexico, the son of Claudio Alonzo Ramirez and Alejandro Magdaleno.

Ramirez is survived by his children and spouses: Juan and Maria Ramirez of Fredericksburg; Donna and Ismael Flores of Nebraska; Claudio Ramirez of Iowa; Sylvia and Rigo DeLa Torre of Iowa; Rosa and Albert Anaya of Iowa, and Uriel Ramirez of Fredericksburg.

He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Survivors also include five siblings: Hector Ramirez of Mexico; Fransisca Hernandez of Fredericksburg; Enesaida Herrera of Fredericksburg; Umberto Ramirez of Junction, and Ricardo Ramirez of Iowa.

Rafael Robles


RAFAEL ROBLES

 

Rafael Robles, 52, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Thursday evening, May 9.

Robles was born Nov. 23, 1960, in Mexico, the son of Rafael Robles and Cayetana Saldana Robles. He married Teresa Mendoza on Jan. 5, 1985, in Mexico and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Robles is survived by two daughters and one son, including Marisa Jiminez and her husband, Oswaldo, of Stephenville; Mireya A. Robles and Rafael Robles Jr., both of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include one grandson and his father, Rafael Robles of Del Rio.

Frederick H. Saenger


FREDERICK H. SAENGER

 

Frederick H. Saenger, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 20, at 9:30 a.m. in the chapel of Beckmann Funeral Home with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Bernice Basse was the organist.

Entombment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Visitation was held Sunday evening, May 19.

Saenger was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Fredericksburg, the son of Felix F. Saenger and Ella Meckel Saenger. He married Nelda Hilda Klier on Oct. 20, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Sept. 25, 2012.

A World War II veteran, Saenger served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a gunnery instructor on B-29s.

For many years, he worked at Saenger Menswear, as well as for Mooney Aircraft and briefly with the Texas Department of Transportation.

Mrs. Edward Stehling


MRS. EDWARD STEHLING

 

Mrs. Edward Stehling, the former Viola Ersch Pressler, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Friday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Donna Durst, the vocalist.

Graveside services and interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Thursday evening, May 16.

Mrs. Stehling was born May 3, 1923, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Eddie Ersch and Cora Grosenbacher Ersch. She married Carl H. Pressler on June 12, 1943, and he died Dec. 12, 1964. She then married Edward Stehling on May 27, 1967, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and he survives.

Virginia Victoria Fry

Virginia Victoria Fry, nee Heep, of Austin, Texas, died Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was 83 years old.

Virginia was born in Fredericksburg, Texas on Oct. 6, 1929 to Richard and Alma Heep. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Fredericksburg in 1948 and completed nursing training at Seaton School of Nursing in Austin in 1951. She was married to Edward Curtis Fry of Fredericksburg, on April 6, 1953.

Following her marriage, Virginia and her husband lived in seven states from 1953 to 1961 while he worked for the Plymouth Oil Company. During this time, they lived in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, North Dakota, Montana and Wyoming. She worked as a nurse in Williston, North Dakota and Stuttgart, Arkansas.

Peggy Jo Hull Thompson

Peggy Jo Hull Thompson of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 14, 2013 surrounded by family.

She was born on Sept. 21, 1929 in Cleburne, Texas to Lester Norman Hull and Faye Edwards Hull. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education and retired from teaching after more than 30 years. She married H.L. Thompson Jr. on March 9, 1957.

Peggy devoted her life to educating her children her grandchildren and the children of others. After moving to Fredericksburg, she helped make Eisbahn, a holiday outdoor ice skating rink to benefit cystic fibrosis, a reality.

Peggy was an avid reader of novels, she loved to work crossword puzzles and enjoyed cooking.
