Louis Gene Yaeger

Louis Gene Yaeger

April 4, 1937 ~ May 24, 2013

Louis Gene Yaeger of Cuero, Texas passed away on Friday May 24, 2013, at his home, at the age of 76 years.

Louis was born April 4, 1937 in Corpus Christi to Gustavo and Thelma Skinner Yaeger. He married Kerry Girdler on Aug. 18, 1977 in Tripoli, Libya.

Louis is survived by his wife, Kerry Yaeger, of Cuero; three children and spouses: Luann Fossett; Martin and June Yaeger, and Abbie and Jerry Tidmore.

Survivors also include four grandchildren: Adam Spatafora, Leif Yaeger, Kirby and Travis Tidmore; a sister, Tudi Mathews, and the mother of his children, Carol Yaeger.

Along with his parents, Louis was preceded in death by a sister, Vicki Boykin.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday May 28, at 2 p.m. in the Brice Family Cemetery, near Fredericksburg, with Deacon Pat Klein officiating.

Sherman D. Durst

Sherman D. Durst, 60, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, May 30, from 5-8 p.m., and Friday, May 31, from 7-8:15 a.m.

Visitation will continue Friday from 9-10 a.m., at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church where the funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Community Needs Council, Boys and Girls Club, Gillespie County Historical Society, Admiral Nimitz Foundation or to the charity of choice.

Aaron Fritz

Aaron Fritz, 78, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 24, 2013, in a San Antonio hospital.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, May 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Cherry Mountain School, Gillespie County 4-H and FFA clubs or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

B.L. 'Buddy' Hierholzer

B.L. ‘Buddy’ Hierholzer

April 16, 1932 ~ May 23, 2013

B.L. “Buddy” Hierholzer of Kerrville and Rockport, Texas passed away on May 23, 2013 in Rockport. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to Laura and Russell Hierholzer on April 16, 1932.

Buddy went to school at Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, and upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years.

He married Alice “Tokie” Easton in 1954 at the Naval Air Base Chapel in Norfolk, Virginia. Tokie, his childhood sweetheart, grew up across the street from him in Alamo Heights. She preceded him in death in 2002.

Buddy was also preceded in death by his parents.

While in the Navy, Buddy served on the USS Black, a Destroyer, during the Korean Conflict.

Larry Steve Klein


LARRY STEVE KLEIN

Larry Steve Klein, 60, of Austin and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, in an Austin hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 21, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Deacon Patrick Klein officiating.

Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Prior to the funeral, the body lay in state at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin on Monday morning, and at Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Klein was born July 22, 1952, in Fredericksburg, the son of Victor Christian Klein and Janice Ann Knopp Klein.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer Renee Klein of Cedar Park, and one son, Derek Victor Klein of Austin.

Klein is also survived by one sister, Donna Hastings of San Antonio, and two brothers, Glenn Klein of Comfort and Warren Klein and his wife, Connie, of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Lynden Maurer


MRS. LYNDEN MAURER

Mrs. Lynden Maurer, 72, nee Barbara Jean Loth of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 17, 2013.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist and Jackie Kunz, the vocalist.

Private interment of the cremains will take place at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil and rosary service led by Deacon Patrick Klein were held Tuesday evening, May 21.

Mrs. Maurer was born Aug. 30, 1940, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Adolph Henry Loth and Amalia Mathilda Lang Loth. She married Lynden Maurer on March 1, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters.

John R. Montgomery


JOHN R. MONTGOMERY

John Robert Montgomery, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, May 20, 2013.

Graveside services and interment were held Thursday, May 23, at 10 a.m. at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Montgomery was born Sept. 19, 1926, in Florence, the son of Vester Montgomery and Madeline Wales Montgomery. He married Minerva Durst on Nov. 16, 1950, in Freder­icksburg. She preceded him in death on May 5, 1987.

Montgomery attended high school in Florence and during his senior year, joined the Air Force Reserve program.

Upon graduation, he attended the University of Arkansas until he was called to active duty.

While on active duty, he worked with B-29 aircraft and weather.

After World War II, he returned to civilian life and chose the sales field as his vocation.

Graveside services and interment were held on Tuesday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at the Brice Family Cemetery, near Fredericksburg.

Hedwig (Hattie) Powell

Hedwig (Hattie) Powell, 98, nee Manofsky, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Doss, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment will be held Thursday, May 30, at 11 a.m. at the Hilda United Methodist Church Cemetery, north of Doss.

Memorials may be made to the Hilda United Methodist Church Building Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Beckmann Funeral Home.

Mable (Dixie) Glasgow


MABLE (DIXIE) GLASGOW

 

Mable (Dixie) Glasgow, 84, nee Allen, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, May 12, 2013, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Burdick officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Mrs. Glasgow was born Aug. 3, 1928, in Merritt Island, Fla., the daughter of Eddie Allen and Frances Albritton Allen. She married Mark Hogan who preceded her in death. Then, she married Prentice Glasgow who also preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Dianna and Don Blount of Fredericksburg, Susan and David Golden and Charles and Rosa Hogan, all of Florida.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
