Mrs. Hans E. Bergner

Mrs. Hans E. Bergner, 91, nee Gladys Vernell Herbort of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, June 11, from 5-7 p.m., at Schaetter Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 12, at 10 a.m., at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, where the body will lie in state from 9-10 a.m.

Interment follows at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gladys and Hans Bergner Educational Grant, Admiral Nimitz Foundation, Holy Ghost Church or to the charity of choice.

Travis Brooks


TRAVIS BROOKS

Travis Brooks, 32, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

A memorial service was held Sunday, June 8, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with Bobby Shaffer officiating.

Brooks was born Aug. 5, 1981, in Fredericksburg, the son of Thomas Wayne Brooks and Sandra Lynn Haynes Brooks. He married Rikki Wray who survives.

In addition to his wife, Brooks is survived by a son, Thomas Brooks of Louisiana; his mother, Sandy Cole of Fredericksburg; a sister, Jennifer Kelley of Galveston, and a brother, Edwin Brooks of Austin.

Marvin E. Jander


MARVIN E. JANDER

Marvin E. Jander, 84, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 1, 2014.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.

Jander was born Dec. 24, 1929, in Marlin, the son of Rudolph Jander and Ida Kuretsch Jander. He married Margaret Peggy Grissom on Jan. 27, 1967, and she survives.

Jander served four years in the United States Navy.

After attending college, he became a state trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety. He was also employed by Allen Keller Co.

After retiring as a trooper, he worked as a deputy sheriff for the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.

He also served on the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Arthur Koennecke Sr.


MRS. ARTHUR KOENNECKE SR.

Mrs. Arthur Koennecke Sr., 101, nee Gertrude Eichholz of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 4, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Koennecke was born March 28, 1913, in Kendall County, the daughter of Max Eichholz and Emma Toepfer Eichholz. She married Arthur Koennecke Sr. on May 24, 1933, in Kerrville. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1992.

Mrs. Koennecke is survived by one son, two daughters and spouses, including Arthur and Lynette Koennecke Jr. and Dorothy and Vernon Brodbeck, all of Fredericksburg, and Betty Solbrig of Arkansas.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Anthony Joseph Maimer


ANTHONY JOSEPH MAIMER

Anthony Joseph Maimer, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 2, 2014.

Graveside services with military honors and interment of the cremains were held Friday, June 6, at 9 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

A rosary service and memorial mass were celebrated Friday afternoon, June 6, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist; Annette Whittington, the vocalist, and the St. Mary’s Adult Choir sang.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Maimer was born May 5, 1933, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Benjamin Maimer and Maulita Cosgrove Maimer.

He served in the United States Air Force for nearly 30 years.

James Dudley Marschall


JAMES DUDLEY MARSCHALL

James Dudley Marschall, 58, of Riviera, died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Corpus Christi Heart Hospital.

Marschall was born July 16, 1955, in Llano, the son of James W. Marschall and June Kuebel Marschall. He married Sue Starr in 1984 and she survives.

A 1974 Llano High School graduate, Marschall worked as an electrician and in the granite business in Houston prior to moving to South Texas where he worked as a hunting and fishing guide for many years.

In addition to his wife, Marschall is survived by his mother, June Marschall; three step-daughters and their husbands, 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, including Debbie and Glenn Ratliff, Denice Marschall, and Dixie and Joel Duncan.

Marschall’s father preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Patricia Sagebiel


PATRICIA SAGEBIEL

Patricia Sagebiel, 89, nee Reiff, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church at Cherry Spring with the Rev. Mark A. Ward officiating.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Visitation was held beforehand at the church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sagebiel was born April 6, 1925, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Lloyd Reiff and Kathryn Seipp Reiff. She married the Rev. Nolan Sagebiel Sr. on Sept. 5, 2004, in Llano and he survives.

Prior to moving to San Antonio, the Sagebiels were residents of the Prairie Mountain community in Llano County.

She earned two master’s degrees and worked in education.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sagebiel is survived by seven children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Bill Noah Stafford


BILL NOAH STAFFORD

Bill Noah Stafford, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, May 31, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 6, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Tommy LeFan officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Private family disposition of his cremains will take place at a later date.

Stafford was born Sept. 1, 1940, in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, the son of Arvel C. Stafford and Dixie Elswick Stafford. He married Vicky Lynn Esensee on Feb. 2, 1991, in Fredericksburg, and she survives.

A Fredericksburg High School graduate, Stafford retired from Central Texas Electric Cooperative where he had worked for 40 years.

He also worked at the local Walmart store for over seven years, and was a long-time member of the Fredericksburg Jaycees.

Mrs. Jerry Faucheux, 69, nee Barbara Ann Wukasch of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 7, from 9-10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church at Cave Creek.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church with interment following in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Zonta Club or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Curtis Feller


MRS. CURTIS FELLER

Mrs. Curtis Feller, 80, nee Betsy Brandon of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, May 24, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Annette Whittington, the vocalist.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Friday evening, May 23.

Mrs. Feller was born Oct. 19, 1933, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Andrew Brandon and Mathilda Lott Brandon.

She married Curtis Feller on Oct. 28, 1950, in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1994.
