Willow Sofie Anderson

Willow Sofie Anderson, 93, nee Gilliam, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Services and interment of the ashes is planned in West Columbia.

Mrs. Anderson was born March 12, 1921, in Brazoria, the daughter of Mason Gilliam and Willow Vollbaum Gilliam. She married Junior Anderson who preceded her in death.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Terry Anderson of Fredericksburg; a daughter-in-law, Linda Anderson of Brazoria; one grandson, and a sister, Joyce Sanders of Clute.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by a son, Joe-Eddy Anderson, and numerous brothers and sisters.

Memorials may be made to the ALS Association or to the charity of choice.

Bobby Joe Banes


BOBBY JOE BANES

Bobby Joe Banes, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. George Watts officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday afternoon before the funeral.

Banes was born April 13, 1940, in Nyota, Alabama, the son of Charlie M. Banes and Margaret Banes. He married Carla Reid on Feb. 13, 1972, in Galveston County, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Banes is survived by three children and spouses, including Connie and Kevin Miller of Celina; Richard and Debra Ricks of Spring, and Rob and Jenice Ricks of Humble; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and Jay Capers of Cold Springs, and a brother and sister-in-law, Randy and Connie Banes of Cleveland.

Mrs. Glenn Campbell

Mrs. Glenn Campbell, 86, nee Margaret (Ricky) Noel of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 8, 2014.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10-11 a.m., at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Special Olympics, Wounded Warriors or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Clydean Everitt Hearn

Clydean Everitt Hearn, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 30, at Holly Hills Memorial Park of Granbury, with her son, the Rev. Buff Hearn, officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hearn was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Sterling City, the daughter of Clyde Everitt and Mildred Hooker Everitt. She married Wylie Hearn who preceded her in death.

She is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Buff and Sandy Hearn of Amarillo, Peni Gardner of Granbury, and Russ and Wendy Hearn of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hearn was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Sue Higdon.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country SPCA or to the charity of choice.

Bradley Wayne Klein


BRADLEY WAYNE KLEIN

Bradley Wayne Klein, 37, of Austin, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 9, at Western Hills Church of Christ in Austin. 

Klein was born July 29, 1977, in Austin, the son of Lester Christian Klein and Colleen Kay Klein.

A 1995 graduate of LBJ High School, Klein later earned an associate degree in graphic design from Austin Community College. He was an artist.

Klein is survived by his mother, Colleen Klein, of Austin; and a brother and sister, Kendall Klein and Nicole Klein, both of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lester Christian Klein; grandfathers, Rev. Wayne Gehman and Edmund J. Klein, and grandmother, Sophie Klein.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Mae Janette Lochte

Mae Janette Lochte, 72, of San Antonio, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 8, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with interment following at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Gethsemane Lutheran Church in San Antonio or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Joaquin Munoz


JOAQUIN MUNOZ

Joaquin Munoz, 73, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014.

A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist, and Donna Durst, the vocalist.

Private distribution of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Visitation and a vigil service were held Friday evening, Sept. 5, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Munoz was born March 6, 1941, in Kendall County, the son of Martin Munoz and Beatrice Ramirez Munoz. He married Manuela Sanchez-Malcara on Sept. 25, 2004, in Kerrville, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Munoz is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Fernando and Dianne Munoz and Thomas and Casey Munoz, all of Fredericksburg, and Dolores Rodriquez of Kerrville; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Lorene Maurer Pfiester

Lorene Maurer Pfiester, 86, of San Antonio, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014.

A memorial mass will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 27, at 10 a.m. at St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, 6907 Kitchener St., San Antonio.

A rosary service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., just before the mass.

Interment will be in Fredericksburg at a future date.

Mrs. Pfiester was born June 29, 1928, in the Stonewall-Hye area, the daughter of Adolph Maurer and Delka Nebgen Maurer. She spent most of her life in San Antonio. She married Charles (Charlie) Pfiester nearly 65 years ago and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pfiester is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, including Mike and Zelpha Pfiester of Austin; Rod and Nan Pfiester, Kyle; Charlie and Diana Pfiester Jr., San Antonio, and Jeff and Debbie Pfiester, Houston.

William Gary Rankin

William Gary Rankin, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, in San Antonio.

A memorial service will be held at Unity Fellowship Church in Williamsburg, Virginia, on Sept. 20.

Rankin was born in New York City, the son of Edward and Edna Rankin. He was a retired Navy veteran.

Survivors include a daughter, Felecia Rankin; a son, Clifford Rankin, and one grandson.

Matthew Taylor Schafer


MATTHEW TAYLOR SCHAEFER

Matthew Taylor Schafer, 28, of Abilene, died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2014, as the result of injuries received in an airplane crash in which his brother, Richard W. Schafer III, also died.

Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m. at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Abilene with Jack Hardcastle officiating.

Graveside services with military honors and interment were held Saturday, Sept. 6, at 1 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Schafer was born Sept. 12, 1985, in Austin, the son of Richard W. (Rick) Schafer Jr. and Margaret Elizabeth (Beth) White Schafer. He married Victoria Komorowski on April 3, 2010, in Fredericksburg, and she survives.

A 2004 graduate of Fredericksburg High School, Schafer was a United States Air Force veteran, serving for nine years. During his time in the Air Force, he was in the 7th AMXS Squadron and the 7th Civil Engineer Squadron. He was deployed three times, twice in the Middle East and once in Haiti.
