James Truett Garrett


JAMES TRUETT GARRETT

James Truett Garrett, 79, of Houston, died Aug. 5, 2013.

Private funeral services will be held at a later date.

Garrett was born Sept. 17, 1933, in Houston, the son of James A. Garrett and Gloria E. Ashorn Garrett.

He was a retired attorney.

Survivors include his siblings, Evelyn Wright of Emmityville, Calif.; Eloise McGinnis of Fredericksburg; Frances Connell of New York, N.Y., and Daniel Garrett of Silver Spring, Md.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, David George Garrett, John Stephen Garrett and Louise Marie Riggs.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the Lone Star Legal Aid, 1415 Fannin Street, 3rd Floor, Houston, Texas 77002.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Lester A. Grosenbacher

Lester A. Grosenbacher, 88, of Comfort died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 15, from 6-8 p.m. in Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort. Graveside services and interment will follow in the Comfort Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Comfort Volunteer Fire Department or the charity of choice.

Robert (Bob) Jones


ROBERT (BOB) JONES

Robert (Bob) Jones, 54, of Corpus Christi died July 26, 2013, in a Corpus Christi hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. at Memorial Presbyterian Church in Fredericksburg.

Born in Long Beach, Calif., on Feb. 22, 1959, Jones attended Fredericksburg High School and San Diego Community College.

After serving in the U.S. Navy, he spent his 31-year career in numerous sales and managerial roles in computer, automotive, banking and advertising industries.

He lived in Kerrville, Fredericksburg and Dallas before moving to Corpus Christi in 2011. He joined the Corpus Christi Caller-Times as an acquisition sales representative that same year.

Survivors include a brother, David Jones of Fredericksburg and a foster brother and his wife, Michael and Sully Holman of the Austin area.

Jim Judd

Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Sheriff Jim Judd, 66, of Fredericksburg died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 17, at 10 a.m. in Pavilion #1 in Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.

The family will greet friends from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday prior to the memorial service.

Private interment of the cremains will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Foundation or the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Frederick J. (Fritz) Metzger

Frederick J. (Fritz) Metzger, 72, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.

A mass of resurrection was held on Monday, Aug. 12, at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Entombment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, St. Joseph’s Halle Restoration Fund or to the charity of choice.

Schaetter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Calvin David Moehle


CALVIN DAVID MOEHLE

Calvin David Moehle, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013.

A funeral mass was held Tuesday, Aug. 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Murchison was the pianist and Annette Whittington was the vocalist.

Entombment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where a vigil service and visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 5.

Moehle was born March 2, 1927, in Gillespie County to David H. Moehle and Ella T. Hohmann Moehle. He married Shirley A. Loth on July 18, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Moehle is survived by one daughter, two sons and their spouses including Michael and Corrie Moehle of Fredericksburg, Patrick Moehle of Amarillo and Trisha Icke of Wylie; four grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Edmond S. Murphy, 93, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013.

Beverly Ann Oehler


BEVERLY ANN OEHLER

Beverly Ann Oehler, 70, of Harper, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, in Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Harper United Methodist Church with the Rev. Neal Matthews officiating. Peggy Ernst was the organist.

Interment followed in the Harper City Cemetery.

Beckmann Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 9.

Ms. Oehler was born Nov. 3, 1942, in Dallas, the daughter of David Hall and Daisy Akins Hall.

She enjoyed cooking and she had several jobs in food service from serving as a school cafeteria cook to running her own diner, Bev’s Kuntry Kitchen, which she operated until her health forced her to retire.

Marjorie J. Pressler, 86, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 16, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 17, from 7 a.m. to noon in Fredericksburg Funeral Home and from 1-2 p.m. in the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church. Graveside services will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Willow City Fire and Rescue, Willow City Schoolhouse Account, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or the charity of choice.
