Mrs. Wilbur Hall


MRS. WILBUR HALL

Mrs. Wilbur Hall, 90, nee Edwina Carmen Lowgren of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 12, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, July 15, at the Junction Cemetery in Junction with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hall was born Feb. 18, 1925, in Junction, the daughter of Edwin O. Lowgren and Mittie Kidd Lowgren. She married Wilbur Hall on Nov. 22, 1945, in Junction. He preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2010.

She is survived by distant relatives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials may be made to the Pedernales Creative Arts Alliance (PCAA), Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Mervil Kaiser


MRS. MERVIL KAISER

Mrs. Mervil Kaiser, 80, nee Elizabeth (Betty) Day of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, July 9, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service was held at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dan Herold officiating.

Visitation was held before the service.

Graveside services and interment of the cremains was held at 9 a.m., today, Wednesday, July 15, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Mrs. Kaiser was born July 5, 1935, in Glasgow, Scotland, the daughter of John Day and Rose Griffin Day. She married Mervil Kaiser on Dec. 18, 1959, in Glasgow, Scotland, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kaiser is survived by two daughters, Christine Valentine of Kyle, and Kathryn Baggett and her husband, Clif, of Galveston, and four grandchildren.

Agustin S. Lopez

Agustin S. Lopez, 97, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m., Monday, July 6, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Aurora Aguirre officiating.

Visitation was held beforehand.

Graveside services and interment in Mexico are planned at a later date.

Lopez was born Aug. 2, 1917, in Mexico, the son of Cresencio Lopez and Severa Sanchez Lopez. He married Maria Trinity who preceded him in death.

He is survived by one daughter, three sons and spouses, including Severita and Juan Meneses and Jaime and Maria Lopez, all of Fredericksburg, and Cresencio and Maria Lopez and Francisco and Maria Lopez, all of Houston.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Lopez was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.

Dorothy L. Lucas


DOROTHY L. LUCAS

Dorothy L. Lucas, 84, nee Arhelger, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 3, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, July 11, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. David Priem officiating.

Interment of the ashes followed at 11 a.m. at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Mrs. Lucas was born Aug. 27, 1930, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Alfred Arhelger and Bertha Koenig Arhelger. She married Frederick C. Lucas on Nov. 16, 1996, at Fairfax United Methodist Church in Fairfax, Virginia. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 2006.

A 1948 Fredericksburg High School graduate, Mrs. Lucas worked in San Antonio with the USDA pink boll worm control program before moving to Washington, D.C., in 1950, where she worked for the credit bureau.

After that, she worked for U.S. News and World Report as a photo librarian, as a secretary for the U.S. Army chief of staff at the Pentagon, and for Honeywell Computer Corporation.

Ruger Dwayne Rowan


RUGER DWAYNE ROWAN

Ruger Dwayne Rowan, age 2, of Harper, died Friday, July 3, 2015, in San Antonio.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 9, at Wild Ride Ministries Cowboy Church in Harper with the Rev. Mike Weaver officiating.

Interment followed in the Harper Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville where visitation as held Wednesday evening, July 8.

Rowan was born May 7, 2013, in Fredericksburg, the son of Lindsay Michelle Fisk and Brian Wayne Rowan.

In addition to his parents, survivors include his grandmothers, Bernice Mabry and Pam Fisk, and grandfather Bob Fisk.

Florence Jane Voulgaris

Florence Jane Voulgaris, 86, nee Ledford, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 12, 2015.

No service is planned.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Voulgaris was born April 29, 1929, in Jerome, Arizona, the daughter of Mike and Zeda Ledford. She married James C. Voulgaris on Dec. 29, 1959, in Houston. He preceded her in death.

 Mrs. Voulgaris is survived by her children: Sandra Janssen of Mesquite; Bruce Williams and his wife, Susan, of Houston; Jim Voulgaris and Dennis Voulgaris.

Survivors also include 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Voulgaris was preceded in death by a daughter, Terri Pietri.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

William Gene Weber

William Gene Weber, 81, of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, July 13, 2015.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, July 15, from 5-8 p.m., and Thursday, July 16, from 7:30-9:45 a.m., in the chapel at Schaetter Funeral Home.

Vigil and rosary services will be held at 7 p.m., today, Wednesday, July 15, at Schaetter Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund.

George Robert (Bob) Weddington


GEORGE ROBERT (BOB) WEDDINGTON

George Robert (Bob) Weddington, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 2015.

Private burial services are planned at a later date at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Weddington was born Dec. 9, 1932, in Antlers, Oklahoma, the son of John and Mildred Weddington. He married Susan Baker on April 1, 1983, in San Antonio, and she survives.

A United States Air Force veteran, Weddington was a microbiologist in the epidemiology department, retiring as a major.

Prior to moving to Fredericksburg, he was a longtime resident of San Antonio, where, upon retirement, he had an accomplished career as laboratory director for Southwest Bioclinical Laboratory.

He was active in amateur radio, with a call sign of K5HXS and was known as Tall Bob.

Henry W. Hickman


HENRY W. HICKMAN

Henry W. Hickman, 66, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, June 27, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, July 3, at Oak Hills Church Fredericksburg with the Rev. Michael Meek officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Hickman was born Feb. 21, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Henry M. Hickman and Jacqueline M. Morton Hickman. He married Coleen Spence on Oct. 6, 1973, and she survives.

After graduating from Phoenix College, Hickman then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greely on an athletic scholarship. He graduated in 1971 with a degree in business administration.

In 1978, Hickman joined the Hawaii County Police Department in Hawaii. During his time with the police department, he reached the rank of Lieutenant of Detective Department.

He attended the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy from September to December of 2000.

Lester Lansing Kothmann


LESTER LANSING KOTHMANN

Lester Lansing Kothmann, 65, of Mason, died Thursday, June 30, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 5, at River of Life Church in Mason with Dave Benefield officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.

Kothmann was born Jan. 28, 1950, in Fredericksburg, the son of Lansing Kothmann and Gerda Lehmann Kothmann. He married Cindy Goodman on May 15, 1976, and she survives.

A Mason High School graduate, Kothmann attended the University of Texas.

He was a design engineer for a telephone company in Temple for 24 years, and upon retirement, returned to Mason County to operate the family ranch.

In addition to his wife, Kothmann is survived by a son, Lee Lester Kothmann, and a daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Thomas Kinney, and one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Leon Thane of San Angelo.
