Nora Lee Hammock

Nora Lee Hammock, 93, nee Brazil, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Memorial Presbyterian Church.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, Memorial Presbyterian Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Alois W. Klein

Mrs. Alois W. Klein, 83, nee Clifteen Klein of Stonewall, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with interment following in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Robert A. Linka, 65, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, April 10, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Bethany Lutheran Church.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Hennig Haus, Admiral Nimitz Foundation or the charity of choice.

Rito B. Rubio

Rito B. Rubio, 63, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 1, 2016, at Tri-Star Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Chaplain Debbie Gordon officiating.

The body was cremated after the funeral.

Visitation was held Monday evening, April 4, at the funeral chapel.

Rubio was born May 15, 1952, in Floydada, the son of Rito Rodriguez Rubio and Maria Ofelia Briseno Aguilar.

He is survived by four children, including Melissa Victoria Rubio, Leticia Rubio, Rito Rubio IV and Liberty Ann Rubio, and his mother, Maria Ofelia Briseno Aguilar.

Survivors also include four grandchildren, and five siblings and spouses, including Maria Teresa Salazar, Maria Angelita and Jesse Martinez, Maria Isabel and Victor Jimenez, Rocky and Pearl Aguilar and Ruben Aguilar.

Along with his father, Rubio was preceded in death by a sister, Paulita Briseno.

Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua

Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua, 75, nee Sharon Leifeste of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Robert Clarence Schmidtke

Robert Clarence Schmidtke, 71, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

A private memorial service was planned by the family.

Arrangements were under the direction of Wright’s Funeral Parlor of Kerrville.

Schmidtke was born Jan. 29, 1945, in Kerrville, the son of Robert Earl Schmidtke and Pauline Simonds Schmidtke.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William Clayton and Catharyn Ann Schmidtke, and two grandchildren, all of College Station.

Survivors also include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Thelma Jo and Gerald Wendel of Fredericksburg and Elaine and Michael Brown of Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Earl Schmidtke and Pauline Simonds Schmidtke, and by his brother, Delbert Schmidtke.

Mrs. Henry (Hank) Weiershausen

MRS. HENRY (HANK) WEIERSHAUSEN

Mrs. Henry (Hank) Weiershausen, 86, nee Dora Alice Grobe of Early, died Monday, April 4, 2016.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at the Zephyr Cemetery in Zephyr with the Rev. Phillip Scott officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

Mrs. Weiershausen was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Stonewall, the daughter of Edwin Grobe and Hilda Petsch Grobe. She married Henry (Hank) Weiershausen at Bethany Lutheran Church in 1948. He preceded her in death on Oct. 25, 2010.

A 1947 graduate of Fredericksburg High School, Mrs. Weiershausen attended and graduated from Johnson’s Cosmetology School in San Antonio.

She was employed in four of Foley’s department stores as a supervisor in human resources and staff coordinator in Houston.

Retiring after 25 years of employment, she and her husband moved to Zephyr, which is near Brownwood. Later, they moved to Early.

Mrs. Allen J. Hagel, 78, nee Silverlee Crenwelge of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Fort Worth.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, and from 7-9:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Vigil-rosary services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, ACTS, or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Verne Allen, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 28, 2016.

A celebration of life will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 17, at the Austin Street Java Haus, 102 E. Austin St.

Memorials may be made to the National Ataxia Foundation, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Presley J. Arhelger

PRESLEY J. ARHELGER

Presley J. Arhelger, 85, of Doss, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating. Laurie Arhelger and David Lively sang a duet.

Graveside services and interment followed at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery in Doss.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening and Tuesday morning.

Arhelger was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Gillespie County, the son of Otto Arhelger and Zelma Palmer Arhelger. He married Vernell Evers on June 3, 1951, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Doss, and she survives.

Over the years, he was a farmer and rancher in the Salt Branch community northwest of Doss.
