Mrs. Santiago (Jimmy) Castillo

Mrs. Santiago (Jimmy) Castillo, 51, nee Elizabeth (Liz) Cortez of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Friday, June 12.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 12, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Cremation will follow the service.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. James C. Klein

Mrs. James C. Klein, 100, nee Meta Mary Roeder of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, June 8, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, from 4-7 p.m., and Thursday, June 11, from 7-10:15 a.m.

A vigil service will begin at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Schaetter Funeral Home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 11, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. V.E. (Buddy) Koennecke, 91, nee Mary Keester of Fredericksburg and formerly of Comfort, died Friday, June 5, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 8, at the Comfort Cemetery, in Comfort.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, the Golden Hub or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Tiffany S. Mudd


TIFFANY S. MUDD

Tiffany S. Mudd, 31, nee Martinez, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, June 4, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 8, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Deacon Pat Klein officiating.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening.

Mudd was born Aug. 3, 1983, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Troy Martinez and Sally Cortez Martinez. She married David Mudd on Aug. 23, 2001, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mudd is survived by three children, Gavin, Ty and Jonathen Mudd, all of Fredericksburg; and her parents: Troy and Sally Martinez of San Angelo.

She is also survived by her grandmother, Carmen Martinez of Fredericksburg; two brothers, Troy Martinez Jr. and Timothy Martinez, and one sister, Samantha Martinez.

Kenneth L. Reissig

Kenneth L. Reissig, 81, of Fredericksburg, died in the flood waters of the Blanco River over the Memorial Day weekend.

Graveside services and interment will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 11, at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country SPCA, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Golden Hub Community Center or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Thomas Edward (Scottie) Schkade, 78, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, June 7, 2015.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 10, from 5-7 p.m., and Thursday, June 11, from 7 a.m.-noon in the chapel at Fredericksburg Funeral Home, and from 1-2 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Elmer Tatsch


ELMER TATSCH

Elmer Tatsch, 75, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 2, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 5, at First Christian Church in Iola, Kansas, with interment following in the Moran Cemetery in Moran, Kansas.

Visitation was held Thursday evening at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Moran, Kansas.

Tatsch was born Aug. 1, 1939, in Fredericksburg, the son of Arvin Tatsch and Anita Feller Tatsch.

A Fredericksburg High School graduate, Tatsch was a United States Army veteran, serving from 1958-1962.

In 1966, Tatsch moved to Drexel, Missouri, and in 1970 moved to the Moran and Iola, Kansas, area. He started Tatsch Construction shortly thereafter, and in 1994, he and his daughter opened Tatsch Pallet Company.

Tatsch is survived by three children and spouses, Share and Roy Saenger and Perry Tatsch, all of Hye, and Lisa and Jeff Sanford of Gainesville, Georgia.

Dr. Marvin (Nick) Bennack


DR. MARVIN (NICK) BENNACK

Dr. Marvin (Nick) Bennack, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 15, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 30, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sid Spiller officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Bennack was born Oct. 2, 1929, in Pleasanton, the son of George Bennack and Jane Stewart Bennack. He married Marjorie Meriwether on May 27, 1951, and she survives.

Bennack grew up in Raymondville. After graduating from Texas A&I University at Kingsville, he was accepted into the University of Texas Dental School, receiving his dental license in 1956.

After serving two years in the United States Air Force, the Bennacks returned to Raymondville where he practiced dentistry. After retiring from dentistry, he obtained his pilot’s license to fly single engine airplanes and flew both commercially and as an instructor.

James Ewald Eckert


JAMES EWALD ECKERT

James Ewald Eckert, 91, of Stonewall, died Wednesday, May 20, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 23, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Graveside services, with military honors, and interment followed in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, May 22.

Eckert was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Stonewall, the son of Benno H. Eckert and Thekla Weyrich Eckert. He married Dorothy Louise Houy on June 8, 1947, and she survives.

Attending Stonewall School through 10th grade, Eckert then went to Fredericksburg High School, graduating in 1941.

In the fall of 1941, he began welding classes at Fox Tech in San Antonio, and in December of that year, after World War II began, Eckert started working at Kelly Field in San Antonio.
