Funeral Service Announcements

Information on funerals that occur after March 23 will appear under this heading.

PRESLEY J. ARHELGER

Presley J. Arhelger, 85, of Doss, died Saturday, March 26, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 28, and from 7 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Tuesday, March 29.

The body will lie in state at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with interment following at St. Peter Lutheran Church Cemetery at Doss.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Doss Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Timothy Lee Boss

Timothy Lee Boss, 47, of Johnson City, died Friday, March 11, 2016, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bulverde.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Boss was born Oct. 16, 1968, in San Antonio, the son of Andrew Lee Boss Jr. and Mary Frances Reeves Boss.

He is survived by one daughter, McKinlee Boss, and his father, Andrew (Andy) Boss, both of Bulverde.

Survivors also include three sisters, Terri Boss of Austin; Suzanne Lafaver of Converse, and Lisa Neubauer and her husband, Doug, of Bulverde.

Boss was preceded in death by his mother.

Iris Gillis Britton


IRIS GILLIS BRITTON

Iris Britton, 98, nee Gillis, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2016.

No services are planned at this time.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Britton was born Jan. 11, 1918, in Pampa, the daughter of Christopher Gillis and Viola Eller Gillis. She was married to William Kenneth Britton who preceded her in death.

She was the first female Aircraft Quality Control Specialist at Alameda Naval Air Station, Alameda, California.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Shelley Britton, and a daughter, Kaylou Britton, all of Fredericksburg; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a sister, Clarice Jones of Amarillo.

Memorials may be made to Fredericksburg Animal Shelter, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Die Künstler von Fredericksburg or the charity of choice.

Robert Lee Cummings

Robert Lee Cummings, 101, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, March 18, 2016.

Graveside services and interment were held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 23, at the Davilla Cemetery with the Rev. Paulette Magnuson officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Cummings was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Tracey, the son of Louis Dean Cummings and Zettie Rosalie Newman Cummings. He married Ruth Allyne Faulkner who preceded him in death.

Cummings is survived by one daughter, one son and spouses, Joanne and Bob Spencer of Fredericksburg and Robert and Mary Ann Cummings of Winnsboro.

Survivors also include six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Snookie Hickman of Round Rock.

In addition to his wife and parents, Cummings was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Ruth Cummings and 10 siblings.

Mrs. James E. Edmonds

Mrs. James E. Edmonds, 89, nee Eugenia Shelton of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 17, at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Max Wilson officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Edmonds was born May 13, 1926, in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, the daughter of Frank Shelton and Aletha-Lithia King Shelton. She married James Earl Edmonds on Jan. 12, 1946, in Jackson, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on Dec. 27, 2009. 

She is survived by six sons and spouses, including Everett E. and Glenda Edmonds of Dry Prong, Louisiana; James Elton and Lisa Edmonds and James E. and Beth Edmonds Jr., all of Jackson, Mississippi; Ronnie G. and Sally Edmonds Sr. of Canyon Lake; Donald and Teresa Edmonds of Seabrook, and Jerry and Gayle Edmonds of Fredericksburg.

Mary L. Fisher


MARY L. FISHER

Mary L. Fisher, 93, nee Lobert, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, March 18, 2016.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Fisher was born Aug. 25, 1922, in San Antonio, the daughter of Tom Lobert and Mary Giddens Lobert. She married Ira Fisher on June 15, 1946. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Cameron Baird of Stonewall, and three grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Fisher was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Alan Fisher, and a sister, Josephine Thompson.

Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Center, Fredericksburg Food Pantry, Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department or the Boys and Girls Club of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. George Heimann


MRS. GEORGE HEIMANN

Mrs. George Heimann, 86, nee Annie Jo McLoney of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 17, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with hospice chaplain Bruce Brown officiating.

Visitation was held beforehand.

Private disposition of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Mrs. Heimann was born Sept. 29, 1929, in Newport, California, the daughter of Joseph McLoney and Amelia Myers McLoney. She married George Heimann who preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2008.

Survivors include a stepson and spouse, Walton and Beth Heimann of Fredericksburg, and one step-grandson.

Memorials may be made to the SPCA, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

John Liljedahl, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, March 17, 2016.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 2, from 3-9 p.m. at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park, adjacent to the pool and tennis courts.

Joe Pyke Marr, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 19, 2016.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 22, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.

Graveside services and interment were held at 1 p.m. today, Wednesday, March 23, at the Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospital, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
