Ella Erna (Ellie) Jung Buchholz

Ella Erna (Ellie) Jung Buchholz, 79, of Wolfe City and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 3, 2014.

Visitation will be held today, Wednesday, Feb. 5, from 5-7 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Pedro (Pete) Cantu

Pedro (Pete) Cantu, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 3, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Kurt V. Frantzen


KURT V. FRANTZEN

Kurt V. Frantzen, 58, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where a memorial service was held Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.

Frantzen was born March 28, 1955, in Fredericksburg, the son of R.L. and Betty Frantzen. He married Trudy Bruns on Aug. 22, 1999, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Frantzen is survived by a step-son, Ace; and two sisters, Lisa Thomas and her husband, Charlie, of Center Point, and Alyx Frantzen of Nacogdoches.

Survivors also include his parents-in-law, Alton and Florine Bruns of Fredericksburg, and a sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and Ted Jenschke of Austin.

Frantzen was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Cleo Frantzen, and a brother, Ben Frantzen.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country SPCA, American Cancer Society or the charity of choice.

Rollie Ed Keese


ROLLIE ED KEESE

Rollie Ed Keese, 74, of Austin, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Stonewall Community Cemetery in Stonewall.

Keese was born April 6, 1939, in Llano County, the son of Hilmer Clarence Keese and Mamie Birk Keese. His wife, the former Anne Elizabeth Weinheimer, survives.

Keese was a participant in the Austin Intergroup. He served as past president for the 617 Non-Profit Foundation and held other offices for the North Branch.

Over the past 20 years, he was active within the AA community as a representative.

In addition to his wife, Keese is survived by two daughters, two sons and spouses, including Cheryl, Dianne, Clarence and Lori Keese, and Herman and Leah Keese, and five grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean and Bill Renfro, and Jane and Wardell Randolph.

Ruth Aleen Livingston

Ruth Aleen Livingston, 62, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, in Fredericksburg.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Crofts-Crow Funeral Home, Johnson City.

Ms. Livingston was born June 13, 1951, in Belton, the daughter of Robert Lawson Livingston and Mary Alice Baker Livingston.

She is survived by three children, including Sid Shumake and his wife, Jennifer; Robin Shumake, and Erven Heiligmann Jr.

Survivors also include seven grandchildren, and three siblings, including Jim Livingston and his wife, Gail; Mary Holt, and Matt Livingston.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Livingston was preceded in death by a sister, Lela Arlette Livingston Blevins.

Mrs. Felix M. Moritz


MRS. FELIX M. MORITZ

Mrs. Felix M. Moritz, 85, nee Evelyn H. Kozielski of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday evening and Thursday morning at the funeral home.

Mrs. Moritz was born April 3, 1928, in Cuero, the daughter of Jerome M. Kozielski and Emma Halfmann Kozielski Petri. She married Felix Marcus Moritz on Oct. 12, 1946, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He preceded her in death.

Over the years, Mrs. Moritz worked at Security Café; Dairy Cream and the Fredericksburg Steam Laundry. Later, she sat as a care giver to the elderly.

Martha Waddell


MARTHA WADDELL

Martha Waddell, 87, nee Williams of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Feb. 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Ms. Waddell was born Aug. 8, 1926, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Abraham Williams and Marion Mighton Williams.

She was a retired realtor.

Ms. Waddell is survived by four children, including Annie Jensen of Columbus, Ohio; Morgan Waddell of Sunbury, Ohio; Polly Waddell of Fredericksburg and San Antonio, and Kirk Waddell and his wife, Kate, of Bokeelia, Fla.

Survivors also include six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the charity of choice.

Perry Hugo Wendel

Perry Hugo Wendel, 64, of Leakey, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in a San Antonio hospital.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Larry Adams officiating.

Interment will be at a later date in the Wendel Cemetery.

Visitation was held earlier on Wednesday.

Wendel was born Feb. 11, 1949, in Fredericksburg, the son of Raymond Wendel and Telka Esensee Wendel. His wife, Sandy, survives.

In addition to his wife, Wendel is survived by six children and spouses, including Missy and Doyle Warner, Juanita Schmidt, Bob and Kimberly Schmidt, Perry Wendel Jr., Fred Wendel and Megan Wendel.

Survivors also include numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his mother, Telka Wendel of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. J.B. Yancey

Mrs. J.B. Yancey, 86, nee Ilene Hill of Schulenburg and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Hub or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

John Fredrick Ahrns


JOHN FREDRICK AHRNS

John Fredrick Ahrns, 66, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014.

Services are pending.

Ahrns was born Feb. 24, 1947, in Atlanta, Ga., the son of John and Ann Ahrns.

In 1973, Ahrns and his family relocated from Dallas to Western Travis County where he was instrumental in the development of Westcave Preserve.

After his retirement in 2010, Ahrns and his wife, Brenda, moved to Fredericksburg.

Since then, he has volunteered as an LCRA water monitor, with the Fredericksburg Nature Center, the Old Tunnel State Park and as a board member of the Hill Country Land Trust.

In addition to his wife, Ahrns is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Rhonda Ahrns; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber and Dave Gosselin, and eight grandchildren.

Survivors also include a sister and brother-in-law, Anita and Jerry Gardner; a brother and sister-in-law, Daryl and Duryonna Giles, and his mother-in-law, Doris Giles.
