Mrs. Casper Flink

Mrs. Casper Flink, 93, the former Iantha Dobsky Albrecht of Fredericksburg, died Monday, July 29, 2013, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 31, from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday, Aug. 1, from 7-8:15 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 8:15 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 1, and from 9-11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints or to the charity of choice.

Eduard Horobec


EDUARD HOROBEC

Eduard Horobec, 63, of Harper, died Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

No services are planned at this time.

Horobec was born Dec. 12, 1949, in Mildorf, Germany, the son of Peter and Rosa Horobec, and immigrated to the United States with his parents and younger brother when he was two years old. He grew up and attended schools in the St. Louis, Mo. area.

He married Elaine Ivens on June 1, 1991. Over the years, they lived in San Antonio and Pipe Creek, as well as Costa Rica for three and one-half years before returning to Texas in 2012 and settling near Harper.

After a stint in the U.S. Army, Horobec followed a career as a car salesman, which included having his own car lots and working for dealerships. In 2007, he retired from Fiesta Auto Center in San Antonio where he had worked as a salesman and as manager of one of their car lots.

Warren Neil Klein

Warren Neil Klein, 57, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 28, 2013.

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, July 31, at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Hills Evangelical Lutheran Church with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Roy Howard Lane, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 30, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Raymond Ottmers Sr.

Mrs. Raymond Ottmers Sr., 94, nee Ruth Lena Moritz of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 26, 2013, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, July 30, at 2 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice

Richard Rabb


RICHARD RABB

Richard Rabb, 63, of Llano, died Wednesday, July 24, 2013.

Memorial services were held Saturday, July 27, at 10 a.m. at Lutie Watkins United Methodist Church in Llano, with the Reverends Elliott Pancoast and Leslie Tomlinson officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Waldrope – Hatfield – Hawthorne Funeral Homes of Llano.

Rabb was born July 4, 1950, in San Saba, the son of Sam and Mary Rabb. He married Debbie Welgehausen on June 10, 1972, and she survives.

A 1968 Llano High School graduate, Rabb earned a bachelor’s degree in animal science from Texas A&M University in 1972, and upon graduation, went to work for the Federal Land Bank. He had a 27-year career and retired in 2000.

Rabb was a member, past president and director of the Hill Country Livestock Raiser’s Association. He also volunteered at the Fort Worth Stock Show.

Mrs. Charles L. Sands

Mrs. Charles L. Sands, 89, nee Betty Jessup of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, July 14, 2013, at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 18, at 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danielle Knapp officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Mrs. Sands was born Feb. 14, 1924, in Lake Charles, La., the daughter of Jake Curry and Clara Pilgrim. She married Charles L. Sands on Jan. 5, 1953, in Corpus Christi, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Sands is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Jamie and Roger Colaw of North Carolina, Clarene and Robert White of California, and James David Sands of Fredericksburg; and a daughter-in-law: Martha, Mrs. Douglas Wayne Sands, of Oklahoma.

Mrs. Merle A. Schmidt

Mrs. Merle A. Schmidt, 88, nee Bernice Ann Davis of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, July 17, 2013.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 22, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. David Felps officiating.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, July 23, at 1 p.m. in the Waller Cemetery in Waller.

Visitation was held Monday morning prior to the funeral.

Mrs. Schmidt was born Nov. 7, 1924, in Waller, the daughter of Bernie Davis and Ann Purvis Davis. She married Merle A. Schmidt on Oct. 28, 1942, in Houston. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by three daughters, including Sharan McBride and her husband, William, of Fredericksburg; Malinda Schmidt, Black Hawk, Colo., and Donna Emery, San Antonio; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio or to the charity of choice.

Dennis Howard Schneider


DENNIS HOWARD SCHNEIDER

Dennis Howard Schneider, 69, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 19, 2013.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating.

Interment followed in the Schneider Family Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, July 22.

Schneider was born March 12, 1944, in Fredericksburg, the son of Hilmar Schneider and Linda Rusche Schneider. He married Doris Birck on Dec. 11, 1965, at Zion Lutheran Church, and she survives.

A rancher and welder, Schneider was also a military veteran, serving as a mechanic in the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves in the 1960s.

In addition to his wife, Schneider is survived by three daughters and spouses, including Denise and Grover Hawkins, Devon and Pedro Vela, and Dena Stewart, all of Fredericksburg; six grandchildren, and a sister, Mable Wilke of Willow City.

Ruby Keller Schneider


RUBY KELLER SCHNEIDER

Ruby Emma Keller Schneider, 93, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, July 19, 2013.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, July 23, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, July 22.

Ms. Schneider was born June 21, 1920, in Kerr County, the daughter of Theodore Keller and Amelia Hohmann Keller. She attended the Cain City school.

For a number of years, she was a seamstress for Mooney Aircraft in Kerrville, and then worked at Hill Country Memorial Hospital where she retired after working for 18 years.

She was a member of the Fredericksburg Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas.

Ms. Schneider is survived by two daughters, Bernice Billings and her husband, Wayne, of Austin, and Sue Mounce of Fredericksburg; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
