Mrs. Robert Charles (R.C.) Kneupper

Mrs. Robert Charles (R.C.) Kneupper, 95, nee Augusta Mary Bippert of Comfort, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 3, at 10 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort with the Rev. Shelley Summont officiating.

Interment followed at the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at Helotes.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home of Comfort where visitation was held Sunday evening, March 2.

Mrs. Kneupper was born Aug. 6, 1918, in La Coste, Medina County, the daughter of William R. Bippert and Sophie Geiger Bippert. She married Elton Steubing who died Aug. 9, 1963.

On April 11, 1969, she married R.C. Kneupper who died Jan. 9, 1993.

Mrs. Kneupper is survived by two sons, Carlton Steubing of Aurora, Colo., and Royce Steubing and his wife, Dolores, of Comfort; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Helen Evelyn Koennecke


HELEN EVELYN KOENNECKE

Helen Evelyn Koennecke, 90, nee Spenrath, of Comfort, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort with the Rev. Shelley Simmont officiating.

Interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, Feb. 28.

Mrs. Koennecke, a retired school teacher, was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Comfort, the daughter of Eric Spenrath and Ella Schaefer Spenrath. She married Percy A. Koennecke on April 24, 1948, in Comfort. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane Danz of Kerrville, and Joy Faigen and her husband, Mitch, of Newport Beach, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Gloria Ann Spenrath of Comfort.

Walter Webster Marr

Walter Webster Marr, 91, of Harper, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A celebration of life is planned at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Dorothea Meier, 88, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 3, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, March 6, from 4-6:30 p.m., and Friday, March 7, from 7-10 a.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

John Joseph O’Malley Jr.

John Joseph O’Malley Jr., 89, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Friday, March 7, from 4-7 p.m. and Saturday, March 8, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held Friday, March 7, at 6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 9:45 a.m., Saturday, March 8.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Graveside services with military honors and interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Center, Ave Maria Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Elizabeth (Betty) Scheck


ELIZABETH (BETTY) SCHECK

Elizabeth (Betty) Scheck, nee Fry, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014.

A memorial service was held Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. at the VFW Hall.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home of Mason.

Mrs. Scheck was born Feb. 11, 1940, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George Sydney Fry and Mary Lenore Cavender Fry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Scheck.

She was raised in Illinois and taught elementary school after graduating from college.

She also owned a tavern in Illinois.

Mrs. Scheck moved to Fredericksburg in 1993 and was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School.

When her children were young, she was active with Cub Scouting.

Mrs. Scheck is survived by one daughter, Jennifer McCort Kunz and her husband, Robert, of Fredericksburg, and a sister, Penny Myers of Racine, Wisc.

LaVerne Cryer Smith, 88, of New Braunfels, died Saturday, March 1, 2014.

She was born May 29, 1925.

Graveside services and interment will be held Saturday, March 8, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Arrangements are under the direction of Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels.

Frances Reed Springall, of Montgomery, Ala., and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

Graveside services and interment are being held today, Wednesday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Vigil services will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 6 p.m., at the funeral home.

Mrs. William Baumert


MRS. WILLIAM BAUMERT

Mrs. William Baumert, 85, nee Annie Olga Schmidtzinsky, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Donna Durst, the vocalist.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Tuesday evening, Feb. 18.

Mrs. Baumert was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Anton Schmidtzinsky and Augusta Klein Schmidtzinsky. She married William F. Baumert on Nov. 26, 1955, at St. Delores Catholic Church in Austin, and he survives.
