A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Elmer J. Oehler

Mrs. Elmer J. Oehler, 80, nee Marion White, of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Nell R. Pope

Nell R. Pope, 88, nee McGaugh, of Hereford, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at Central Church of Christ in Hereford. Interment followed at the Morton Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to Central Church of Christ, 148 Sunset Drive, Hereford, TX 79045.

Arrangements were under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Home, Hereford.

Elizabeth Jung Powers

Elizabeth Jung Powers, 98, of San Antonio, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in San Antonio, Thursday, Nov. 5, where visitation begins at 8:30 a.m.; recitation of the rosary at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass.

Graveside services and interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Elmer J. Oehler, 80, nee Marion White of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 4-6 p.m. and Wednesday, Nov. 4, from 7-11 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Schaetter Funeral Home with interment in Greenwood Cemetery.

Cecil Robert Merritt, 95, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Walter Albrecht

MRS. WALTER ALBRECHT

Mrs. Walter Albrecht, 103, nee Lydia Holekamp of Comfort, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with Charlene Spillmann officiating.

Interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Albrecht was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Kerr County, the daughter of Fritz Holekamp and Sarah Dietert Holekamp. She married Walter Albrecht on Dec. 12, 1934, in Kerr County. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois Haufler and her husband, R.C., of Comfort, and Ruth, Mrs. Adolph (Buddy) Jung, of San Antonio; three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Albrecht was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Adolph (Buddy) Jung; one grandson, Bradley Jung, and one sister, Bettie Spillmann.

Dale Devin (Sting) Dodd

Dale Devin (Sting) Dodd, 51, of Comfort, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., in the funeral chapel.

Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the SPCA, VFW Post 7105 or to the charity of choice.

Anne L. (Rusty) Foster

ANNE L. 'RUSTY' FOSTER

Anne L. (Rusty) Foster, 84, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Kerrville, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating. Vocalists were Roger and Dell Gorden.

Her cremains will be taken to Kenya where she did missionary work.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ms. Foster was born July 28, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Lawrence Foster and Anne Marie Tilden Foster.

After working as a registrar for Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco, California, Ms. Foster entered the missionary field in 1962, and under the auspices of the Southern Baptist Convention, helped open a college in Kenya. 

Upon retirement, she moved to Kerrville where she became a member of Trinity Baptist Church and worked with the church’s missions program.

The Rev. Maurice O. Gold

THE REV. MAURICE O. GOLD

The Rev. Maurice O. Gold, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Born June 24, 1930, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, Gold was the son of Rev. Helmuth and Johanna Wilhelmina Gold and spent his youth in Iowa and high school years in Alice.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Texas Lutheran College in 1951 and was accepted to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he met and married Eddy L. Lobenstein in 1952.

Later that year, he was called to serve in the Korean Conflict, where upon his return he decided to enter the ministry.

Anne H. Houy

ANNE H. HOUY

Anne H. Houy, 98, nee Hershey, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Lumpkin officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Houy was born June 8, 1917, in East Meadow, New York, the daughter of William B. Hershey and Idabella Terry Hershey. She married Carl Houy on Sept. 7, 1940, in Rockville Centre, New York. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, three sons and spouses, including Chuck and Marge Houy of Boston, Massachusetts; Mary Anne and Marshall Farley, of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts; John and Carol Houy, of Rathdrum, Iowa, and Stephen and Sandy Houy of Littleton.

Survivors also include 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Jane Carter, of Dallas.
