Dale Devin (Sting) Dodd

Dale Devin (Sting) Dodd, 51, of Comfort, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m., in the funeral chapel.

Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Memorials may be made in his memory to the SPCA, VFW Post 7105 or to the charity of choice.

Anne L. (Rusty) Foster

ANNE L. 'RUSTY' FOSTER

Anne L. (Rusty) Foster, 84, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Kerrville, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating. Vocalists were Roger and Dell Gorden.

Her cremains will be taken to Kenya where she did missionary work.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ms. Foster was born July 28, 1931, in Louisville, Kentucky, the daughter of Lawrence Foster and Anne Marie Tilden Foster.

After working as a registrar for Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary in San Francisco, California, Ms. Foster entered the missionary field in 1962, and under the auspices of the Southern Baptist Convention, helped open a college in Kenya. 

Upon retirement, she moved to Kerrville where she became a member of Trinity Baptist Church and worked with the church’s missions program.

The Rev. Maurice O. Gold

THE REV. MAURICE O. GOLD

The Rev. Maurice O. Gold, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Born June 24, 1930, in Nebraska City, Nebraska, Gold was the son of Rev. Helmuth and Johanna Wilhelmina Gold and spent his youth in Iowa and high school years in Alice.

He earned a bachelor of science degree in biology from Texas Lutheran College in 1951 and was accepted to the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he met and married Eddy L. Lobenstein in 1952.

Later that year, he was called to serve in the Korean Conflict, where upon his return he decided to enter the ministry.

Anne H. Houy

ANNE H. HOUY

Anne H. Houy, 98, nee Hershey, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Lumpkin officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Houy was born June 8, 1917, in East Meadow, New York, the daughter of William B. Hershey and Idabella Terry Hershey. She married Carl Houy on Sept. 7, 1940, in Rockville Centre, New York. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, three sons and spouses, including Chuck and Marge Houy of Boston, Massachusetts; Mary Anne and Marshall Farley, of Hyannis Port, Massachusetts; John and Carol Houy, of Rathdrum, Iowa, and Stephen and Sandy Houy of Littleton.

Survivors also include 14 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Jane Carter, of Dallas.

Terry Lee Jacoby

TERRY LEE JACOBY

Terry Lee Jacoby, 55, of Kerrville, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Impact Christian Fellowship in Kerrville with the Rev. David Danielson officiating.

Jacoby was born July 31, 1960, in Fredericksburg, the son of Edmund William Jacoby Jr. and Charlotte (Lottie) Schumpelt Jacoby. He married Lola (Bebe) Robinson on June 10, 1997, at First Baptist Church in Ingram and she survives.

A Fredericksburg High School graduate, Jacoby worked at Mooney Aircraft for 17 years, and later at Dealers Electric Supply for six years.

In addition to his wife, Jacoby is survived by two daughters, Cassandra Renee Jacoby and Kayla Marie Jacoby, both of Kerrville.

Lloyd Kastl

LLOYD KASTL

Lloyd Kastl, 63, of Harper, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015.

Family and friends gathered Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 20, at the VFW Hall for a time of remembrance.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Kastl was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Kastl. He married Nancy Walker who survives.

For many years, Kastl worked in the construction industry in the Fort Worth area before moving to the Hill Country.

He owned a motorcycle shop called Lloyd’s of Wimberley, and also spent some time in Louisiana as a tow boat captain for Blessy Marine.

In addition to his wife, Kastl is survived by one brother, Thomas Kastl of Adkins.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country SPCA or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Glenn I. Quinn

Mrs. Glenn I. Quinn, 92, nee Pearl Jessie Hoots of Floresville and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at Greenwood Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Mrs. Quinn was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Somerset, the daughter of John Henry Hoots and Jewel Hicks Hoots. She married Glenn Ivan Quinn on June 6, 1942, in Lytle. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1982.

Survivors include one daughter, one son and spouses, Kathryn Jaynette and Herbert Fuller of McCoy, and Bob and Gail Quinn of Keller; five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Marcus (Mike) Schmidt

OLIVIA 'DOODLE' SCHMIDT

Mrs. Marcus (Mike) Schmidt, 96, nee Olivia (Doodle) Herbort, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Knopp Assisted Living Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Schmidt was born May 4, 1919, in the Grapetown community, the daughter of Harry Herbort and Ella Klinksiek Herbort. She married Marcus Louis (Mike) Schmidt on July 23, 1939, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rectory in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death on Aug. 23, 1987.

Mrs. Schmidt is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Steve Feller, of Kingwood, and Joan and Terry Bonn, of Fredericksburg.

Renea Noreen Thrower

RENEA NOREEN THROWER

Renea Noreen Thrower, 58, nee Holland, of Harper, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2015.

A memorial service is being held at 5 p.m. today, Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Thrower was born Nov. 23, 1956, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, the daughter of Donald Ray Holland and Patsy Ann Smith Holland. She married Edward E. Thrower Jr. and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Thrower is survived by five children, including Chance Thrower, Chad Thrower and Chase Thrower, all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Rebecca Williams of Houston, and Russell Williams of Center Point.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 23, from 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 24, from 7:30-9 a.m.

Mrs. Douglas W. Bowman Sr., 72, nee Carolyn Lang of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 2015.

A memorial Mass and interment of the cremains will be held at a later date.
