Mrs. William Richard Hahn Jr.

Mrs. William Richard Hahn Jr., 89, nee Jean Althaus of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services are being held today, Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

William Cameron Hawkes

William Cameron Hawkes, 84, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and Fredericksburg, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

Services were held Monday, Nov. 3, at 10 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Funeral Home in Clearwater, Florida.

Hawkes was born in Evanston, Illinois, and moved with his family to Pinellas County in 1950. He married Elizabeth Stephens who preceded him in death in 2010.

He attended St. Petersburg Junior College before enlisting in the United States Army, serving in Korea until 1954.

Hawkes worked for many years in the sales and service of mobile homes and recreational vehicles in Dunedin. He spent many hours volunteering at All Children’s Hospital and the St. Petersburg YMCA.

Survivors include one sister, Barbara Buck of Crystal Lake, Illinois; his sisters-in-law, Cay Meadows of Fredericksburg, June Bond and Louise Stephens of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Walter F. Hohmann


WALTER F. HOHMANN

Walter F. Hohmann, 96, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. J. Jason Fry officiating. Judy Hickerson was the organist. Visitation was held beforehand.

Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Hohmann was born Jan. 28, 1918, in Fredericksburg, the son of Albert Henry Hohmann and Adele Clara Evers Hohmann. He married Irene Baag Braeutigam on April 24, 1999, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and she survives.

He was a rancher in the Willow City community and a member of Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

A 1936 Fredericksburg High School graduate, Hohmann also attended Texas A&M University for one semester and then served in the military during World War II.

For many years, he worked in San Antonio and Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Alton Deike, 75, nee Florine Fay (Renie) Luedke of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 4, from 5-7 p.m., and Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 7:30-8:30 a.m.

Mrs. Guadalupe Albiter

Mrs. Guadalupe Albiter, 59, nee Yolanda Medina of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, in a San Antonio hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 4-7 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A rosary service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 30.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.

Royce Herbert Beyer

Royce Herbert Beyer, 84, of San Antonio and Fredericksburg, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014, in a San Antonio hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 8, at Shepherd King Lutheran Church, 303 W. Ramsey, San Antonio.

Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. at the church.

Graveside services and interment will follow that afternoon at 3 p.m. at Der Stadt Friedhof in Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to Shepherd King Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

 Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Betty J. Creamer


BETTY J. CREAMER

Betty J. Creamer, 88, of San Antonio, and formerly of Fredericksburg and Austin, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.

A memorial service was held at 10 a.m., today, Wednesday, Oct. 29, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Fredericksburg with interment following Wednesday afternoon at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Mrs. Creamer was born July 9, 1926, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Philip and Edith Barrington. She married William G. (Bill) Creamer who preceded her in death.

The Creamer family lived in Hawaii, Washington, California and Florida during the time her husband served in the United States Navy, and settled in Austin in 1967.

She was a professional illustrator for the State of Texas. She was also a docent at the LBJ Library in Austin, a Master Gardener for the Travis County Extension Office and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Gregory W. (Greg) Dittmar


GREG DITTMAR

Gregory W. (Greg) Dittmar, 53, of Dallas, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

A memorial mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 24, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Dallas.

Arrangements were under the direction of Sparkman-Crane Funeral Home of Dallas.

Dittmar was born March 28, 1961, in Gillespie County, the son of Wilfred Dittmar and Harriet Moellering Dittmar. He married Genevieve Rubensteen on April 28, 1990, and she survives.

After graduating from Fredericksburg High School in 1979, Dittmar attended Texas State University, graduating in 1983 with a bachelor of fine arts degree.

He opened Dittmar Design in 1995, providing graphic design for clients for nearly 20 years.

Over the years, he served on the boards of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic School and Ursuline Academy.

J. Scott Gardner

J. Scott Gardner, 45, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014.

A memorial service was held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 10 a.m. at Oak Hills Church of Fredericksburg with the Rev. Jimmy Sportsman officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, Oct. 20.

Gardner was born Dec. 27, 1968, in Bellflower, California, the son of John Gardner and Lena Crockett Gardner. He married Jessica Gamel on Sept. 6, 2002, in Santa Ana, California, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Gardner is survived by two sons, Quincy Cooper Gardner and Pacen Ascher Gardner, both of Fredericksburg; his mother: Lena VanAuker of Downey, California; and a sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Mondo Ruiz of Downey, California.

He is also survived by four step-siblings: Bobbi Jo Passmore, Corrine Roscoe, Roger VanAuker and Marie Johnston.

Paul Joseph Hartmann


PAUL JOSEPH 'PAULIE' HARTMANN

Paul Joseph (Paulie) Hartmann, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 25, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and David Mayfield and the church choir sang.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and vigil-rosary services were held Friday evening, Oct. 24.

Hartmann was born April 20, 1929, in Gillespie County, the son of Emil Henry Hartmann Sr. and Erna M. Oehler Hartmann. He married Frances Hohmann on Oct. 25, 1949, and she survives.

He attended St. Mary’s School and was a truck driver for Weirich Brothers. In later years, he was a home delivery carrier for the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
