Mrs. Andrew Nebgen

Mrs. Andrew Nebgen, 83, nee Jane Wade of Scottsdale, Ariz., died Monday, March 31, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Friday, April 11, from 5-7 p.m.

A rosary service will be held Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 8:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, and from 9-10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Interment follows in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Kathleen Augusta Louie Rader

Kathleen Augusta Louie Rader, 80, nee Bohls of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, from 4-6 p.m., and Friday, April 11, from 7-8:15 a.m.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 8:15 a.m., Friday, April 11, and from 9-10 a.m., at Bethany Lutheran Church where the funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Roy Rodgers

Mrs. Roy Rodgers, 85, nee Wanda Marshall of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 22, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 28, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Christ with Tommy LeFan officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rodgers was born May 15, 1928, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Lonnie Marshall and Myrtle Hightower Marshall. She married Roy Rodgers on Aug. 28, 1947, in Phoenix, Ariz. He preceded her in death April 10, 2007.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Russelanne and Gary Locklar, and a son, Phillip Rodgers, all of Fredericksburg.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Rodgers was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Rodgers, and a sister, Maxine Rodgers.

Mrs. Marvin M. Roos

Mrs. Marvin M. Roos, 86, nee Gertrude L. Grobe of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 4, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with interment following at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to Pioneer Memorial Library, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Hill Country Community Needs Council or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

CW2 Michael Earl Wyant (U.S. Army, ret.)

CW2 Michael Earl Wyant (U.S. Army, ret.), 76, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, April 3, 2014.

Graveside services and interment, with full military honors accorded by the United States Army, were held Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Memorials may be made to Chapter 15, Special Forces, in San Antonio, or The Diskin Orphan Home of Israel.

A celebration of life is planned at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Albert J. (Jack) Avant


ALBERT J. (JACK) AVANT

Albert J. (Jack) Avant, 88, of San Antonio, died Monday, March 24, 2014.

Funeral services were held Thursday, March 27, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Rev. Elliot Pancoast officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Avant was born Sept. 22, 1925, in Atascosa, the son of George Avant and Virginia Thigpen Avant. He married Lorene Dietrich on May 9, 1948, at Bethany Lutheran Church and she survives.

 After graduating from Somerset High School at the age of 15, Avant began working for the War Department San Antonio Arsenal the next year.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on July 20, 1943, and served until Oct. 31, 1945.

Bradford (Brad) Baker


BRADFORD (BRAD) BAKER

Bradford (Brad) Baker, 58, of Ingram, died Wednesday, March 19, 2014.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at 1000 Hills Cowboy Church in Kerrville with Keith Shelley officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Baker was born July 11, 1955, in Kerrville, the son of Jesse and Dorothy Baker. He married Susan Furr on Feb. 5, 1991, and she survives.

A lifelong resident of Kerr County, Baker was a 1974 graduate of Tivy High School.

In addition to his wife, Baker is survived by three daughters and one son, including Michelle Talley, Kami Baker, Aimee Cowen and Dustin Baker; four grandchildren, and his mother, Dorothy Washburn.

He is also survived by six siblings, including Carol Segner, Jesse Baker, Ruthie Winsett, Larry Baker, Susie Lehne and her husband, Kevin, and Charlotte Jeffers and her husband, Jerry.

Baker was preceded in death by his father.

Hilmar Carl Dittmar


HILMAR CARL DITTMAR

Hilmar Carl Dittmar, 95, of Hamilton, died Monday, March 24, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 28, at 2 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Hamilton with interment following at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery at Pottsville.

Arrangements were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Hamilton where visitation was held Thursday evening.

Dittmar was born April 26, 1918, at Doss, the son of John Dittmar and Hulda Kroll Dittmar. He married Cora Hannemann on Oct. 14, 1945. She preceded him in death in 2007.

After attending school through the 10th grade at Doss School, Dittmar took his college entrance exam, passed, and entered Texas Lutheran College, thus skipping the 11th grade.

At age 19, he accepted a teaching job at Cherry Spring School and then the Petersburg School before entering Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos to attain his bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

Mrs. Clarence A. Durst, 89, nee Lola Mae Beck, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab.

Funeral services are being held today, Wednesday, April 2, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Habitat for Humanity or to the charity of choice.
