Clemens Oscar Klein

Clemens Oscar Klein, 91, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Comfort, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Klein was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Gillespie County, the son of Christian Klein and Emma Franciska Mosel Klein.

He joined the United States Army on Jan. 14, 1941, at Fort Sam Houston, and was discharged Aug. 12, 1945, with the rank of Private First Class.

On March 4, 1946, Klein joined the United States Navy and was discharged on Jan. 8, 1948 with the rank of Seaman First Class.

Klein worked as a veterinary assistant.

In addition to his parents, Klein was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers, including Cora Margaret Lang, Meta Louise Klein, Mabel Lena Roach, Betty Rita Koenig, Chester Klein, Lee Klein, Harvey Klein, Eugene Klein and Harry Theodore Klein.

Paul Charles McGuff


PAUL CHARLES McGUFF

Paul Charles McGuff, 60, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service was held Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedar Park.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

McGuff was born May 20, 1953, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Paul McGuff and Rosane Camblin McGuff.

McGuff served with the U.S. Air Force and later became a software engineer for Varco Int.

He is survived by two sons, Michael McGuff and his wife, Ivalania, of Hutto, and Matthew McGuff and his wife, Brittany Christensen of Round Rock; four grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Eleanor B. McGuff of Round Rock.

Sarah McLemore

Sarah McLemore, 30, of Harper, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Mayo Clinic of Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following in the Harper Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Harper Volunteer Fire Department and EMS, Harper Community Cemetery or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ramon Perez


RAMON PEREZ

Ramon Perez, 79, of Ingleside, died Friday, March 28, 2014.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, April 1, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside with interment following at Gregory Cemetery in Gregory.

Arrangements were under the direction of Charlie Marshall Funeral Home in Aransas Pass where visitation and a rosary service were held Monday, March 31.

Perez was born Sept. 5, 1934, in Aransas Pass, the son of Isabel and Juanita Perez. His wife, Georgia, preceded him in death.

He is survived by four sons, three daughters and spouses, including Raymond and Elvira Perez and Paul and Selina Perez, all of Corpus Christi; Martin and Rosa Perez of Ingleside; Roy and Lou Perez of Aransas Pass; Beatrice and Paul Rivera and Hilda and Raul Mendez, all of Fredericksburg, and Lisa Martinez of Corpus Christi.

Kathleen Augusta Louie Rader


KATHLEEN BOHLS RADER

Kathleen Augusta Louie Rader, 80, nee Bohls, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 7, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 11, at 10 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with the Reverends Casey Zesch and Travis Meier officiating. Marjorie Ottmers was the organist.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning.

Mrs. Rader was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Austin, the daughter of Beth Boyce (B.B.) Bohls and Lydia Lindig Bohls.

She is survived by one daughter, two sons and spouses, including Terry and Patsy Reson, Craig Reson and Lisa and Myron Welgehausen, all of Fredericksburg.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Barbara Bohls of Taylor and John Mark and Lou Bohls of North Carolina.

Roy Rhodes, 72, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 11, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Family Chapel of Greenwood Cemetery with interment following.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, April 14.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country SPCA, Hill Country Antique Tractor and Engine Club, Fredericksburg High School FFA or to the charity of choice.

Gertrude L. Roos


GERTRUDE L. ROOS

Gertrude L. Roos, 86, nee Grobe, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 4, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Reverends Danielle Knapp and Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, April 7.

Mrs. Roos was born Nov. 15, 1927, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Edwin Grobe and Hilda Petsch Grobe. She married Marvin M. Roos on Jan. 25, 1948, at Bethany Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on March 22, 2001.

A 1945 Fredericksburg High School graduate, Mrs. Roos attended Johnson’s Beauty College in San Antonio, graduating in 1946.

Over the years, she had a varied working career, including being a beautician at Julia’s, working at Madlyn’s Dress Shop, Hermine’s, Knopp & Metzger, and at the school library.

Mrs. William H. Smith


MRS. WILLIAM H. SMITH

Mrs. William H. Smith, 89, nee Elizabeth Schultz of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Air Force Village II Hospice.

Graveside services and interment were held Tuesday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ann Hoch officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Smith was born May 20, 1924, in St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of Charles Schultz and Teresa Thompson Schultz. She married William H. Smith on Aug. 7, 1948, in Richmond, Calif. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Steve Sommer of Provo, Utah, and Jan and Jim Mahlum of Aurora, Colo.; six grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include two brothers, John Schultz of Virginia and Charles Schultz of California, and a sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Jim Siefert of Nevada.

Max Strackbein, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, April 17, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with interment following at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church Building Fund, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.

Neal H. Watters Jr.


NEAL H. WATTERS JR.

Neal H. Watters Jr., 88, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, April 10, 2014.

No services are planned.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Watters was born Dec. 23, 1925, in Nixon, the son of Neal H. Watters Sr. and Lucille Stockbridge Watters. He married Brenda Lewis on Nov. 28, 1985, in Kerrville and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Watters is survived by the following children and spouses: Linda Harris of San Antonio; Rhonda Reeh, Fredericksburg; Kandee and Michael Ennis, Jackson, Minn; Merry and Donald Weed, Fredericksburg; Ruby and Billy Sparks, Gilmer; David and Lottie Campbell, Chandler; Timothy and Jamie Watters, Chandler, and Gary and Christy Lewis, Austin.

Survivors also include 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
