Anthony William (Tony) Craven


ANTHONY WILLIAM (TONY) CRAVEN

Anthony William (Tony) Craven, 51, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg, Funeral Home with the Rev. Casey Zesch officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday evening, Jan. 24, at the funeral chapel.

Craven was born March 11, 1962, in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Paul William and Pat Craven.

He served in the United States Air Force before going to work in the grocery business. He had been employed by HEB for 15 years.

Craven is survived by his mother and step-father, Pat and Dave Laughlin, of Fredericksburg; his father and step-mother, Paul William and Linda Craven of Burlington, Iowa, and brother, Rob Craven of Dallas.

He is also survived by three step-sisters and spouses, including Deanna and Jim Buckholz of Redlands, Calif.; Tammy and Jim Boysen of Austin, and Angie Barnes of Spring Branch.

James C. (JC) Duston


JAMES C. (JC) DUSTON

James C. (JC) Duston, 85, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, in a Georgetown nursing facility.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. George N. Watts of Faith Baptist Church officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Duston was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Corpus Christi, the son of Tom and Effie Duston. He was married to Martha B. Richardson for 25 years.

On May 10, 1975, he married Marjorie Basse who preceded him in death in September 2002.

Duston was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.

He retired from the Lower Colorado River Authority where he had been a lineman.

Duston is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, including Karen and Howell Williams of Liberty Hill; Stephanie and Bobby Early, Austin, and Debra and Joe Bottalico, Georgetown.

Dale T. Fletcher

Dale T.  Fletcher, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 3 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Private interment of the ashes will be at the Meusebach Creek Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Viola Tinney Hodges

Viola Tinney Hodges, 99, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg Funeral Home with private interment following at the Christadelphian Cemetery at Hye.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Hub’s Meals on Wheels, Hill Country Memorial Home Health Care or to the charity of choice.

Clarence Robert Hoffman


CLARENCE ROBERT HOFFMAN

Clarence Robert Hoffman, 88, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Harlingen, died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m, at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito with Jay Cawthon officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Hoffman was born Nov. 13, 1925, in Harlingen, the son of Emil Wilhelm Hoffman and Clara Fischer Hoffman. He married Lou Ella Palmer. They had been married 62 years at the time she died.

A 1942 graduate of Harlingen High School, Hoffman was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Smalley.

He retired from Brown & Root in 1980 and previously worked for the Harlingen Police Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Hoffman was active in the Masonic Lodge and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Harlingen.

Mrs. Waldmar Hoppe


MRS. WALDMAR HOPPE

Mrs. Waldmar Hoppe, 92, nee Gertrud (Ann) Cwielong of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1:30 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with Deacon Norman Beabout officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hoppe was born Jan. 12, 1922, in Germany, the daughter of Anton Cwielong and Maria Noska Cwielong. She married Friedrich Waldmar Hoppe who preceded her in death.

She is survived by three sons and spouses, including Eric and Darty Hoppe of Fredericksburg; Roy Hoppe, Houston, and Bernie and Judy Hoppe, Toronto, Canada.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Ruth Schnable.

Mrs. Hoppe’s parents also preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Adolph (Buddy) Jung


ADOLPH (BUDDY) JUNG

Adolph Palmer (Buddy) Jung, 81, of San Antonio, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 27, at 9 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with Larry Adams leading the services.

Interment followed in the Comfort Cemetery.

Visitation was held Sunday evening, Jan. 26, at the funeral home.

Jung was born June 29, 1932, in Kendall County, the son of Walter Jung and Nellie Tatsch Jung. He married Ruth Ann Albrecht on April 18, 1959 in Comfort, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Jung is survived by one son, Steven Jung of San Antonio; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Art Coles of Fannin, and three grandchildren.

Survivors also include a sister, Ruby, Mrs. Carl Rechenthin of Sisterdale, and two sisters-in-law, Helen, Mrs. Lee Jung, and Louise, Mrs. Dan Jung, both of Fredericksburg.

Rollie Ed Keese, 74, of Austin, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., at the Stonewall Community Cemetery in Stonewall.

 Memorials may be made to Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship, 1801 Kinney Avenue, Austin, TX 78704, or Austin Intergroup, 1825 Fort View Road, Suite 104, Austin, TX 78704.

John Kevin Mannix, 57, of San Antonio, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014.

Robert (Bob) Meyers


ROBERT (BOB) MEYERS

Robert (Bob) Meyers, 78, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014.

Graveside services were held Monday, Jan. 27, in the Family Chapel of Greenwood Cemetery with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Meyers was born Dec. 1, 1934, in Bridgeport, Conn., the son of Robert William Meyers and Ruth Powers Meyers. His wife, the former Margaret Lee, survives.

Before becoming an investment broker, Meyers served in the United States Army.

In addition to his wife, Meyers is survived by one son, Robert Meyers Jr., of New York; a daughter, Mary Kathleen Meyers of Florida, and one grandson.

Memorials may be made to Heritage School, Hill Country Community Needs Council or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.
