Lawrence Gene Schmid

Lawrence Gene Schmid, 87, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, with entombment of the cremains to follow in the St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Columbarium.

Memorials may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Meals on Wheels or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

William C. (Bill) Scott


WILLIAM C. (BILL) SCOTT

William C. (Bill) Scott, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. George Lumpkin officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, Nov. 30.

Scott was born July 26, 1925, in Lone Oak, the son of Oliver M. Scott and Effie Thomas Scott. He married Clara Faye Jernigin on June 1, 1946, in Commerce. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Rob and Margene Scott of Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Hill Country Memorial Hospital or to the charity of choice.

Elman Fuchs


ELMAN FUCHS

Elman Fuchs, 91, of Round Mountain died Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City. Interment followed at the Round Mountain Cemetery.

Visitation was held on Nov. 18 at the funeral home.

Fuchs was born May 14, 1924, in Cypress Mill, the son of Hugo Paul Fuchs and Gertrude Hyatt Fuchs. His wife of 55 years, Rita, preceded him in death.

He started as an entrepreneur in the gas station and trucking businesses until he became a cowboy and a rancher, raising livestock in Texas, Nebraska and Osage County, Oklahoma, where he spent almost 50 years of his working life.

Survivors include nephews and their spouses including Timmy and Kim Maddox, Dickie Fuchs, Will Stribling and Ingrid Moursund, Edward and Jennifer Junker, Chris Junker and John and Kitty Moore.

Jim Johnston

Jim Johnston, 80, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home, with interment following on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Johnston was born Dec. 31, 1934, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, the son of Harold and Beatrice Williams. He married Beverly Woolsey on Dec. 19, 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and she preceded him in death.

He served with the United States Army, the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps.

Johnston was a retired airline pilot.

Survivors include a daughter, Cathy Copeland of Lewisville; a son, Mike Johnston of Frisco; two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and a son-in-law, Bill Copeland.

Memorials may be made to The Good Samaritan Center, Doctors Without Borders, or to the charity of choice.

Royce William Steubing


ROYCE WILLIAM STEUBING

Royce William Steubing, 67, of Sisterdale died Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.

A celebration of life will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at The Marquardt Ranch, 238 Marquardt Road.

Schaetter Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Steubing was born Jan. 5, 1948, in San Antonio, the son of Elton Steubing and Augusta Bippert Steubing. He married Dolores Marquardt on Sept. 6, 1969, in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Comfort, and she survives.

In addition to his wife, Steubing is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, Kendra and Tom Wren of Kerrville, Kerri and Chad Carpenter of Sisterdale and Dru and Jessica Steubing of Boerne.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and one brother, Carlton Steubing of Colorado.

Memorials may be made to the Josiah Venture, Children’s Relief International, local fire departments or charity of choice.

Erwin Edwin Sultemeier

Erwin Edwin Sultemeier, 88, of Johnson City, died Friday, Nov. 20, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22, at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home in Johnson City with interment following in the Post Oak Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the North Blanco County EMS, P.O. Box 557, Johnson City, TX 78636 or the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 316, Johnson City, TX 78636.

Arrangements were under the direction of Crofts-Crow Funeral Home of Johnson City.

Alberthal

Wesley Allen Alberthal, 80, of Fredericksburg died Friday, Nov. 13, 2015.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, in the Family Chapel at Greenwood Cemetery.

Fredericksburg Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Alberthal was born Feb. 7, 1935, in Fredericksburg to Richard Alberthal and Cora Petmecky Alberthal. He married Davy Jean Schnerr in Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and she preceded him in death.

Alberthal worked for the San Antonio Water Board as an inspector.

He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Justin and Mary Alberthal and Jerry Alberthal, all of Frisco.

He is also survived by two grandchildren and a sister, Julia Chatwell of San Antonio.

In addition to his wife, Alberthal was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers, Joe Henry Alberthal and Andrew Alberthal.

Memorials may be made to the Hill Country SPCA, the Holy Ghost Building Fund or the charity of choice.

Neal

Kevin Worth Neal, 59, of Marble Falls, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Austin Heart Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Larry Adams officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Neal was born June 26, 1956, in San Antonio, the son of Donnis W. Neal and Barbara Dawn Everett Neal.

He was a deputy for the Burnet County Sheriff’s Department for over 30 years.

Neal is survived by his mother, Barbara Dawn Everett Neal, of Marble Falls; two sisters, one brother and spouses, Marcia and David Terwilleger, Marble Falls; Melanie and Cliff Jordan, of Horseshoe Bay, and Kelly and Debbie Neal of Wyoming and Texas.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Fleming

Christina Fleming, 44, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ms. Fleming was born Nov. 3, 1970, in Lincoln, Nebraska, the daughter of Frances Elaine Rozmiarek.

She is survived by her mother, Frances Blank of Fredericksburg; two daughters, Sarah Fleming of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Wendy Fleming of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include a brother and sister-in-law, Steven and Dawn Blank of King, North Carolina; a half-sister, Melissa Ice, and half-brother, Brandon Ortiz, both of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Memorials may be made to the Autism Society or the charity of choice.

Mrs. Dwayne Davis, 69, nee Debra Doris McHone of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 14, at Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel.

Private disposition of the cremains is planned by the family.

Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Home for Children, PAWS or to the charity of choice.

 

KEVIN W. NEAL

Kevin W. Neal, 59, of Marble Falls, died Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Austin Heart Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 12, from 4-6 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 13, from 7-11 a.m.
