Harold W. Pape

Harold W. Pape, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services and interment were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at the Harper Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Agnes Clara Ritter


AGNES CLARA RITTER

Agnes Clara Ritter, 77, nee Weinheimer, of Austin and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2015.

Funeral series were held at 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Austin-Peel and Sons Funeral Home in Austin, with a funeral Mass following at 7 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Austin.

Graveside services and interment were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum in Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Ritter was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Hilmar L. Weinheimer and Alvina Kunz Weinheimer. She married Mark Ritter on Feb. 16, 1979. He preceded her in death.

A 1956 St. Mary’s High School graduate, Mrs. Ritter graduated from Seton School of Nursing in Austin.

She was a registered nurse in Hawaii for a number of years, and then worked at the V.A. Hospital in Kerrville before moving to Austin where she also worked in the nursing field.

Survivors include one son, David Ritter of Austin.

Clinton Edward Stork

Clinton Edward Stork, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Graveside services with military honors and interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to the Willow City Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department, Pioneer Museum or to the charity of choice.

Edwin (Jack) Straube


EDWIN (JACK) STRAUBE

Edwin (Jack) Straube, 81, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Doss, died Thursday, Dec. 17, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the organist and Tricia Eilers, the vocalist.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a rosary service were held Sunday evening, Dec. 20.

Straube was born Feb. 28, 1934, in Gillespie County, the son of William Charles Straube and Theresa Staudt Straube. He married Rose Marie Lange on Nov. 19, 1952, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on Jan. 22, 2009.

Mrs. Rubin H.E. Barsch


MRS. RUBIN H.E. BARSCH

Mrs. Rubin H.E. Barsch, 80, nee Rachel Elizabeth Suzanna Thomas of Houston, died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Houston.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Grant Housewright officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Barsch was born May 2, 1935, in Winters, the daughter of Lloyd Thomas and Cara Graham Thomas. She married Rubin Barsch on Dec. 31, 1954, in Shamrock. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, two sons and spouses, including Susan and Michael Cook of Pasadena; Otto and Diane Barsch of Pearland, and David and Loretta Barsch of San Antonio.

Survivors also include six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Pete Berrien III

Mrs. Pete Berrien III, 67, nee Gloria Ann Koch of Austin and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, in an Austin hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Dripping Springs.

Graveside services and interment followed Monday afternoon at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, St. Martin de Porres Food Bank or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Willard Dearing


MRS. WILLARD DEARING

Mrs. Willard Dearing, 76, nee Nancy Ellen Marquardt, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church, 104 Pyka Road, with the Reverends Elliott Pancoast and Travis Meier officiating.

Mrs. Dearing was born Aug. 17, 1938, in Bloomington, Illinois, the daughter of Herbert Albert Marquardt and Henrietta Marsee Marquardt. She married Willard Dearing on Aug. 27, 1995, in Kenedy and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dearing is survived by two sons, two daughters and spouses, including Michael and Celia Hermes, of Beeville; Steven Hermes, Aransas Pass; Janet and Don Henderson, Conroe, and Lee Ann and James Canter, Portland.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, two sisters and spouses, including Herbert Marquardt, Fern and Ted Mayer, William Marquardt, and Donna and Jack Dearth.

Cora Augusta Deike


CORA AUGUSTA DEIKE

Cora Augusta Deike, 100, nee Hartmann, of Austin and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Dec. 7, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, at Zion Lutheran Church with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, Dec. 11.

Mrs. Deike was born April 27, 1915, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Emil Hartmann and Alma Seipp Hartmann. She married Clarence Deike on Oct. 17, 1939, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Stonewall. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1998.

Mrs. Deike is survived by one daughter, two sons and spouses, including Dorothy (Dot) Johnson and Bob and Barb Deike, all of Austin, and Ron and Marcia Deike of Welfare; three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. John Hanson Sr.


MRS. JOHN HANSON SR.

Mrs. John Hanson Sr., 83, nee Wanda Sue Gardner of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at Fredericksburg Bible Church with the Rev. Fred Bates officiating.

The family received friends before the service.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hanson was born Sept. 10, 1932, in Water Valley, Kentucky, the daughter of Jake Gardner and Myrtle Linder Gardner. She married John Hanson Sr. on Sept. 19, 1954, in Atlanta, Georgia. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, including Debbie and Wayne Reed and Cindy and Cass Phillips, all of Fredericksburg, and Kim and Barry Zombro of Mason.

Survivors also include six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and a brother, David Gardner of Fredericksburg.
