Woodrow Wilson (Woodie) Allen


WOODROW WILSON ALLEN

Woodrow Wilson (Woodie) Allen, 96, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, April 24, 2014.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 30, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, April 29, at the funeral home.

Allen was born April 18, 1918, in Pidcoke, the son of Albert Allen and Willie Brown Allen.

He served with the U.S. Navy for more than 20 years.

Allen is survived by two sons, two daughters and spouses, including Leslie and JoAnne Allen of Austin; Robert and Edith Allen, Las Vegas, Nevada; Audrey Allen, Fredericksburg, and Barbara and Stefan Sasko, Johnson City; nine grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a son, Steven Ray Allen; two sisters, Ann Grobe and Modene Gazaway, and a brother, Albert Allen Jr.

Dianne Baker


DIANNE BAKER

Dianne Baker, 63, nee Garrett, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, May 2, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jason Fry officiating.

Interment followed in the Center Point Cemetery.

Visitation was held Monday morning at the church.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Baker was born June 20, 1950, in Breckenridge, the daughter of Howard Garrett and Dorothy Hutton Garrett. She married Albert Baker on Oct. 16, 2002, in Durango, Colorado, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Baker is survived by the following children and spouses: Howard Douglas and Ashley Nicole Powell of Corpus Christi, and Joe and Amber Baker Moellendorf of Boerne.

Doug K. De Vos

Doug K. De Vos, 27, of Bay City, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014.

Funeral services and interment were held Friday, April 18, in Bay City.

De Vos is survived by his wife, Jessie De Vos of Bay City; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Rachel De Vos of Buda; his father, Ken De Vos of Mason and Fredericksburg, and his mother, Dana Wagner of Austin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Julius and Ruby De Vos and Hazel Westbrook.

Gerhard Milton Eichholz

Gerhard Milton Eichholz, 92, of Comfort, died Wednesday, May 1, 2014, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Comfort.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Rev. Larry Adams officiating.

Afterwards, the body was cremated, with interment of the cremains planned at a later date.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.

Eichholz was born June 30, 1921, in Comfort, the son of Max Eichholz and Emma Toepfer Eichholz. He married Ruby Seidensticker on July 28, 1959, in Boerne. She preceded him in death.

 A United States Army veteran, Eichholz enlisted on Sept. 23, 1942, at Fort Sam Houston and was discharged Sept. 28, 1945, at Fort McPherson, Georgia, attaining the rank of tech sergeant. He received numerous awards and citations for his service.

Mrs. Clyde Thomas Gant


MRS. CLYDE GANT

Mrs. Clyde Thomas Gant, 78, nee Darlene Klein of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 1, at 3 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating. Annabel Wilkinson was the organist.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Mrs. Gant was born Aug. 28, 1935, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Edgar Klein Sr. and Ruby Mathilda Juenke Klein. She married Clyde Thomas Gant on March 12, 1955, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gant is survived by three daughters, one son and spouses, including Gay and Walter Walls Jr. and Yvonne and John Fox, all of Fredericksburg; Ricky and Carla Gant of Kerrville, and Glenda and Raymond Mott of Eagle River, Alaska.

Herman Kendrick

Herman Kendrick, 65, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, May 1, 2014.

No service is planned.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Kendrick was born May 11, 1948, in Dublin, the son of Howard Kendrick and Florence Spraggins Kendrick.

He was a retired tugboat captain.

Kendrick is survived by the following children: Stacie Drake and her husband, Dustin, of Baytown; Jim Kendrick, California; Trevor Dupuis and Josh Dupuis, both of Fredericksburg, and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Children’s Home or to the charity of choice.

Ross Clayton Lehmberg

Ross Clayton Lehmberg, 25, of Mason and College Station, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Lake Conroe.

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, May 7, at 10 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Mason, with interment following at Gooch Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Mason Funeral Home.

Eddy R. Mayfield

Eddy R. Mayfield, 65, of Millersview, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church, Sweetwater.

Lillian Braeutigam Wissemann


LILLIAN WISSEMANN

Lillian Braeutigam Wissemann, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 26, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 28, at 2 p.m. at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Danielle Knapp officiating.

Interment followed in Der Stadt Friedhof.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, April 28, and Tuesday morning, April 29.

Mrs. Wissemann was born Oct. 27, 1924, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Fritz Braeutigam and Augusta Meier Braeutigam. She married William Stanley Wissemann on May 19, 1946, at Bethany Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Aug. 30, 2008.

A graduate of Fredericksburg High School and Draughn’s Business College, Mrs. Wissemann worked at Fredericksburg National Bank until becoming a full-time homemaker.
