Mrs. Alexander Grobe

Mrs. Alexander Grobe, 86, nee Celia (Tobie) Farias of Comfort, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 10, at 10 a.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Rev. Mike Peinemann officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Interment followed at the Chapel Hills Memorial Gardens in San Antonio.

Mrs. Grobe was born May 10, 1927, in San Antonio, the daughter of Lorenzo Farias and Celia Flores Mitchell Farias. She married Alfred Talmadge White, and after his death, married Alexander Grobe, who also preceded her in death.

Mrs. Grobe is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Cheryl and Eric Pierce and Lisa Nimmo, all of Comfort, and Troy E. Cox of San Antonio; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Marvin Hargraves

Mrs. Marvin Hargraves, 72, nee Dixie Kay Fleharty of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 13, at 11 a.m. at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

Graveside services and in-terment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Memorials may be made to St. Barnabas Episcopal Church or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Leo Hartmann

Mrs. Leo Hartmann, 93, nee Ella Klinksiek of Fredericksburg, died Friday, March 7, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held today, Wednesday, March 12, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, March 13, from 7:30-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held today, Wednesday, March 12, at 6 p.m. at the funeral chapel.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 13, at 10 a.m. at the Marienkirche with interment following in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s School Endowment Fund, the St. Mary’s Parish Capital Campaign or to the charity of choice.

James Francis Schueller Jenkins

James Francis Schueller Jenkins, 79, of Harper, died Sunday, March 9, 2014.

A memorial service will be held Friday, March 14, at 2 p.m., at Wild Ride Ministries in Harper.

Memorials may be made to the Harper Library or Hill Country Memorial Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kerrville Funeral Home, Kerrville.

Walter Webster Marr

Walter Webster Marr, 91, of Harper, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service is planned at a later date.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Marr was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Philadelphia, Penn., the son of Christian and Florence Marr. He married Agnes Evelyn Simpson who preceded him in death.

Marr is survived by three daughters, three sons and spouses, including James Edward and Mary Louise Marr of Delaware; Thomas Allen and Renee Marr, Georgia; Nancy Evelyn and Robert Rawson, Arkansas; Robert Charles and Amy Marr, New Jersey; Linda Jean Marr, Fredericksburg, and Sheila Louise Hogan, Connecticut.

Survivors also include 14 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his wife and parents, Marr was preceded in death by one brother, William Christian Marr, and two sisters, Ernestine Fink and Florence Edna Marr.

Dorothea Meier


DOROTHEA MEIER

Dorothea Meier, 88, nee Tatsch, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 3, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 7, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Elliott Pancoast officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Meier was born July 26, 1925, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Edgar H. Tatsch and Olga Schoenewolf Tatsch. She married F.O. Meier, on Aug. 24, 1946, in Bethany Lutheran Church. He preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 2009.

Survivors include one brother, one sister and spouses, Elgin and Geneva Tatsch of Fredericksburg and Paula and Roger Buley of San Antonio; one granddaughter, and one great-grandson.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Meier was preceded in death by one son, Gary Meier, and two brothers, Henry Tatsch and one who died in infancy.

Mrs. Bruno Metzger

Mrs. Bruno Metzger, 91, nee Evelyn Petsch, of Brenham, died Monday, March 10, 2014.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 14, from 6-8 p.m., at Brenham Memorial Chapel, 2300 Stringer St., Brenham.

A wake service will begin at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 15, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, with interment following at Calvary Cemetery.

John Joseph O’Malley Jr.


JOHN JOSEPH O'MALLEY JR.

John Joseph O’Malley Jr., 89, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Saturday, March 8, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Andrea Grubb and Liz Tynan, the vocalists. The Arion Maennerchor also sang.

Graveside services and interment will follow at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Friday evening, March 7.

O’Malley was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Winchester, Mass., the son of John Joseph O’Malley Sr. and Anne Conlon O’Malley. He married Grace McGrath on Sept. 5, 1953, in Washington, D.C., and she survives.

Marvin Raz

Marvin Raz, 80, of Harper, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, March 11, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper with interment following at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Harper Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Frances Reed Springall

Frances Reed Springall, of Montgomery, Ala., and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held Wednesday, March 5, at 2 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ann Hoch officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna Reed Springall; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred H. Springall and Susan H. Springall; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Francis S. Springall.
