Lois Edith Bissett


LOIS EDITH BISSETT

Lois Edith Bissett, 97, nee Billings, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Johnny Mac Long officiating.

Interment followed in the Harper Community Cemetery.

Visitation was held Saturday morning before the funeral.

Ms. Bissett was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Kieffer Edmond Billings and Alma Edith Walker Billings.

She is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Pat and Mike Martin of Lockhart, Bob and Inung Bissett of Tomball and Judy Bruce of Luling.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Bissett was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Claunch, and a grandson, Robbin Oneal Adkison.

Magdaleno Lara Blanco

Magdaleno Lara Blanco, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

A memorial service and entombment of the ashes is planned at a later date.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Blanco was born July 22, 1925, in Mexico, the son of Juan Blanco and Gregoria Lara Blanco.

He was a retired equipment operator in a rubber plant.

Blanco was preceded in death by his wife and parents.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Michael Edmond (Mike) Bremer, 50, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 23, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Gilbert E. Durst

Gilbert E. Durst, 94, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with interment following in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, St. Mary’s School or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Clinton Fritz

Mrs. Clinton Fritz, 81, nee Edna Lena Klein of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 4-6 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 21, from 7 a.m.-noon.

The body will lie in state at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, with the funeral service beginning at 2 p.m.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, the Golden Hub or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Clayton Grobe

Mrs. Clayton Grobe, 86, nee Rosa Straube of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 11, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Travis Meier officiating.

Visitation with the family was held beforehand.

Private interment of the cremains will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Grobe was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Gillespie County, the daughter of William Straube and Theresa Staudt Straube. She married Clayton Grobe on Aug. 30, 1947, at Cave Creek, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Grobe is survived by two sons, Calvin Grobe and his wife, Karen, and Sammie Grobe, and a son-in-law, James Lange, all of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Clyde LaLanne


MRS. CLYDE LALANNE

Mrs. Clyde LaLanne, 79, nee Gwendolyn Martin of Cypress and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Kindred Hospital in Tomball.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Harnan officiating.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation was held Wednesday morning before the funeral.

Mrs. LaLanne was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Houston, the daughter of Henry Clay Martin and Gladys Snell Martin. She married Clyde LaLanne on June 20, 1953, in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Houston. He preceded her in death on Jan. 27, 1996.

She is survived by three children and spouses, including Rhonda and Kenton Feller of Fredericksburg, Robin and Donna LaLanne of Cypress, and Diana and Randy McGraw of El Paso.

Survivors also include 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and Don Scott of Weimar.

Maria Anita Montoya


MARIA ANITA MONTOYA

Maria Anita Montoya, 66, nee Martinez, of Harper, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2016.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, with the Reverends Joe Garza and Juan Gonzales officiating.

Mrs. Montoya was born Sept. 14, 1949, in Mexico, the daughter of Rosas and Eluteria Martinez. She married Ruperto Montoya on May 5, 1968, in Mexico, and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Montoya is survived by 10 children and spouses, including Ruperto and Teresa Montoya, Rodrigo Montoya, Delia and Mayolo Rodriguez, John Paul Montoya and Elizabeth Montoya, all of Harper; Rachel and Tod Dewire, Ingram; Joe Montoya, Georgetown; Salomon Montoya, Kerrville; Noe Montoya, Phoenix, Arizona, and Abel Montoya, Houston.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, seven sisters and three brothers.

Ethel Marie Nietenhoefer

Ethel Marie Nietenhoefer, 84, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2016.

Graveside services and interment of the cremains was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, at Der Stadt Friedhof with the Rev. Pam Traver officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Ms. Nietenhoefer was born April 26, 1931, in Hondo, the daughter of Henry Nietenhoefer and Clara Boehle Nietenhoefer.

Among her survivors is a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Verlie Nietenhoefer.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Alice Nietenhoefer and Elene Nietenhoefer.

Hugo Alvin (Porky) Stehling Jr.


HUGO ALVIN (PORKY) STEHLING JR.

Hugo Alvin (Porky) Stehling Jr., 78, of El Paso, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. Visitation and a rosary service were held before the Mass.

Private graveside services and interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Martin Funeral Home of El Paso where a memorial service was held Thursday, Dec. 10.

Stehling was born Jan. 2, 1937, in Fredericksburg, the son of Hugo Joseph Stehling and Dora Kraus Stehling.

After attending St. Mary’s Catholic School, Stehling graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in home economics, after having studied interior design.

He moved to El Paso in 1964 to establish his career, concentrating on commercial interior design.
