Mrs. Dayton Kuhlmann

Mrs. Dayton Kuhlmann, 84, nee Mary Louise Jenschke of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, Oct. 8, from 5-7 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 9, from 7-10 a.m.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in the chapel at Schaetter Funeral Home, with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Chris Staats Memorial Scholarship Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Roy C. Crenwelge

Mrs. Roy C. Crenwelge, 75, nee Barbara Jean Adair of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, in an Austin hospital.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 28, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Carlton Eckert


MRS. CARLTON ECKERT

Mrs. Carlton Eckert, 73, nee Lois Kay Willmann, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Eckert was born Nov. 29, 1941, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Clifford Willmann and Helen Itz Willmann. She married Carlton Eckert on June 17, 1961, in Mason and he survives.

For many years, she worked as a bookkeeper for Langerhans Nursery.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Eckert is survived by two daughters, Stacey Eckert of Houston and Teri Eckert-Cox and her husband, Mark, of Denton; and three grandchildren.

She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Myrtle Eckert of Fredericksburg, and a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Dian Willmann of Mason.

Mrs. Jim Faught


MRS. JIM FAUGHT

Mrs. Jim Faught, 85, nee Vernell E. Itz, of Doss, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, at Fredericksburg Funeral Home with Elder David Montgomery officiating.

Interment followed at St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Doss.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral home.

Mrs. Faught was born Dec. 5, 1929, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Arthur Itz and Elsa Durst Itz. She married Jim Faught who survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Faught is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sandy Faught of Spring Branch; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Lorine Crenwelge of Fredericksburg and Janet Hoover of San Antonio, and a brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Tilda Itz of Fredericksburg.

Charles Douglas Fox

Charles Douglas Fox, 33, of Florence, Colorado, passed away Sept. 12, 2015.

Memorial services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Sept. 22, at the Harwood Funeral Home in Florence, Colorado.

Fox was born Oct. 18, 1981, in Canon City, Colorado, the son of Peter Fox and Adele Wollman Fox.

He was a roofer by trade.

Survivors include two sons, Cody Fox and Cory Fox; his mother, Adele Fox; the mother of his children, Nicki Gowecke; one brother, Walter Fox, and his grandparents, Encel and Sheila Harwood and Glenna Fox.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John Wollman, and one sister, Amanda Fox.

John Thomas (Tommy) Hale

John Thomas (Tommy) Hale, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2015.

Funeral services are being held at 2 p.m., today, Wednesday, Sept. 30, at the Fredericksburg Church of Christ, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Barbara J. Hamilton

Barbara J. Hamilton, 81, nee Collins, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2015.

Private family services are planned.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Ms. Hamilton was born March 23, 1934, in Corpus Christi, the daughter of Sam Collins and Maude Padgett Collins.

She is survived by four sons and one daughter, including Jerry Comstock Jr., Janet Simoneau, Jeff Comstock, James Comstock and Joshua Comstock; and siblings, James Schanen, Pete Schanen, Mariln Schanen Dillard and Sammy Collins Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tissy Collins.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Carlton James Jung


CARLTON JAMES JUNG

Carlton James Jung, 65, of Kerrville and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015, in San Antonio.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 19, at Mission Park South Funeral Home in San Antonio, with interment following at Mission Park South Cemetery.

Jung was born Feb. 21, 1950, the son of Erwin Jung Sr. and Florene Walter Jung. His wife, Martha, survives.

Years ago, Jung worked for Stein Lumber Company. Later, he worked for Main Linen Company that was eventually bought out by Cintas and then, Martin Linen.

In addition to his wife, Jung is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Timothy and Cathrine Jung of Johnson City, and Jason and Kristy Jung of Uvalde, and three step-children, Manual, Flavio and Paola.

He is also survived by two granddaughters and two step-grandchildren.

Mrs. Kurt Kuhlmann

Mrs. Kurt Kuhlmann, 84, nee Viola Estella Ellebracht of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m., Thursday, at the church.

Graveside services will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church Building Fund, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Willie B. Smith Jr.


WILLIE B. SMITH JR.

Willie B. Smith Jr., 89, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. D.G. McCoury officiating.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Smith was born Nov. 10, 1925, in Port Arthur, the son of Willie B. Smith Sr. and Violet M. Brown Smith. He married Margaret G. Welge on July 24, 1948, in New Braunfels. She preceded him in death on Aug. 7, 2009.

A United States Navy veteran, Smith served in the South Pacific during World War II and was aboard the battleship USS Mount McKinley.

He was reactivated during the Korean War and served aboard an LST. After the Korean War, he served in the Naval Reserve until the mid-1960’s.

Smith was a graduate of Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth and served as pastor for at least four churches and often served as a supply pastor at others.
