Mrs. Willie A. Wehmeyer Jr.

Mrs. Willie A. Wehmeyer Jr., 86, nee Bernice Anita Scherer of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 11, 2016.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 13, and from 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14.

The body will lie in state at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church from 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, where the funeral will begin at 11 a.m.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

MRS. HUBERT A. MAURER

Mrs. Hubert A. Maurer, 84, nee Selma Bertha Kirchhoff of Fredericksburg and formerly of Harper, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8 and 7-9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9.

A vigil-rosary service will begin at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, at the funeral chapel.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Harper, with interment following in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund, Harper Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Leonard Bachmayer

Mrs. Leonard Bachmayer, 69, nee Mary E. Friedrich of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, in Kerrville.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following in the Friedrich Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Pecan Creek School, Gillespie County Relay for Life or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Louis Castaneda

Louis Castaneda, 74, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a rosary service, led by Deacon Gregorio Martinez, were held Wednesday evening, Dec. 30.

Castaneda was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Terlingua, the son of Jose Castaneda and Rosa Aleman Castaneda.

He is survived by two sons, five daughters and spouses, including Ricky Castaneda, Lucy Reza, Jessica Castaneda and Eva and Inez Andrade, all of Stonewall; Gloria Castaneda, Kerrville; Louis Castaneda, Fredericksburg, and Angie and Vicente Ramirez, Marble Falls.

Survivors also include 43 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren, and six brothers and sisters.

Bobby G. Cavness

Bobby G. Cavness, 87, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Private family graveside services and interment were held Monday, Jan. 4, at the Cavness Cemetery at Mason.

Cavness was born June 1, 1928, in Mason County, the son of Ebb Cavness and Lona Millsap Cavness.

He worked throughout the Hill Country as a cowboy.

Cavness is survived by two sons, one daughter and spouses, including Tommy and Patti Cavness of Hunt; Bobby E. Cavness of Spring Branch, and Jacque and Jerry Watkins of New Braunfels.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Harold Kenneth Couch

Harold Kenneth Couch, 90, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Peterson Regional Medical Center in Kerrville.

Funeral services are being held today, Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 1 p.m., at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church with interment following at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Memorials may be made to the Golden Hub, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Edwin Forberg

Mrs. Edwin Forberg, 74, nee Christine Roberts of Harper, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A private interment of the cremains was planned by the family at Harper Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Forberg was born June 6, 1941, in Stackhouse, North Carolina, the daughter of James Frank Roberts and Lula Bell Price Roberts.

She is survived by two daughters, Lisa Bell and Debbie Hohmann.

Mrs. Forberg was preceded in death by her parents, and husbands, Jack Daniel Young and Edwin Forberg.

Mrs. Billy Gossett, 83, nee Tashya Braithwaite of Stonewall, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehab Center.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall.

Interment followed in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Elgin Heimann


MRS. ELGIN HEIMANN

Mrs. Elgin Heimann, 93, nee Norma Pearl Kissel, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bobby Vitek officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, Dec. 28, and Tuesday morning, Dec. 29.

Mrs. Heimann was born March 18, 1922, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Harold Kissel and Ella Kordzik Kissel. She married Elgin Heimann on May 14, 1938, in Boerne. He preceded her in death on April 18, 1995.

She is survived by six daughters and spouses, including Patsy and Cliff Hahne, Jeannie and Temple Klett and Ginger Heimann, all of Fredericksburg; La Verne and Reid Houy, Katy; Carol Sue and Gary Bruehler, Fair Oaks, and Janice and Donald Mansfield, Katy.

Mrs. Allen (Allie) Klein


MRS. ALLEN KLEIN

Mrs. Allen (Allie) Klein, 89, nee Helen Straube of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Kris Bytomski officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday evening and Monday morning and a vigil service was held Sunday evening with Deacon Patrick Klein officiating.

Mrs. Klein was born Oct. 7, 1926, in Gillespie County, the daughter of William Charles Straube and Theresa Staudt Straube. She married Allen Gottfried (Allie) Klein on Oct. 22, 1947, at St. Mary’s. He preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1984.
