Charles K. Voigt Jr.

Charles K. Voigt Jr., 91, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, March 1, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church.

The ashes will be interred in the church’s columbarium.

Memorials may be made to the Fredericksburg United Methodist Church Foundation, SPCA or to the charity of choice.

Kenneth L. Watkins


KENNETH L. WATKINS

Kenneth L. Watkins, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 13, 2015.

Interment of the ashes will be held at a later date in Tescott, Kansas.

Watkins was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Salina, Kansas, the son of Henry W. and Jean J. Watkins.

Watkins attended schools in Abilene, Kansas. In 1951, he began working for Kansas Power and Light, now Westar Energy. After retiring in 1992, he moved to Fredericksburg.

He volunteered with the Kansas State University Archeology Department for 17 years and worked with three different archeologists at Fort Martin Scott after moving to Fredericksburg.

Elizabeth Mary Weber

Elizabeth Mary Weber, 77, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 20, 2015, at Knopp Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, April 22, from 4-7 p.m. and Thursday, April 23, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, at the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 23, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to New Horizons or to the charity of choice.

Clemens Adolf Pehl, 94, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Monday, April 20, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 21, from 7 to 9:45 a.m.

A vigil service will be held Monday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel.

 A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 21, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

James Sheldon (Mickey) Bell, 104, of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 11, 2015.

Graveside services and interment were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, in the Family Chapel of Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hope Hospice, Presbyterian Children’s Home or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Deborah Lynn (Debbie) Hoffmann

Deborah Lynn (Debbie) Hoffmann, 56, of Pueblo, Colorado, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015.

A memorial service and entombment was held Monday, April 6, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Ms. Hoffmann was born Nov. 11, 1958, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Ernest Hoffmann and Madlyn Moellendorf Hoffmann.

She attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1977.

Ms. Hoffmann is survived by two sons, Shea Hoffmann of Colorado and Jacob Hoffmann of Wisconsin.

She is also survived by two brothers, David Hoffmann of Fredericksburg and Jonathan Hoffmann of Austin, and one sister, Brenda Durst and her husband, Gary, of Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

William R. (Bill) Nelson


WILLIAM R. (BILL) NELSON

William R. (Bill) Nelson, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, April 6, 2015.

No services are scheduled.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Nelson was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Longmont, Colorado, the son of Harry Nelson and Stella Camp Nelson. He married Billie Jo Chandler on Dec. 15, 1949, in Beverly Hills, California. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2012.

He received his master’s degree from Trinity University, and was also a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean Conflict.

After military service, Nelson worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and then switched careers to the education field.

He taught history and English, was a middle school administrator and finally served as the personnel director of the North East Independent School District in San Antonio.

Laverne Parker, 96, nee Bode, of Harper, died Monday, April 13, 2015.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation will be held Thursday, April 16, from 5-7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 17, at 10 a.m., at Lighthouse Fellowship Chapel in Harper, with interment following in the Noxville Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Fellowship Chapel or to the Noxville Cemetery.

Ernie Platfoot, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 2, at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church.

Interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery is planned at a later date.

David H. Ransleben


DAVID H. RANSLEBEN

David H. Ransleben, 69, of San Antonio, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 9, at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Graveside services and interment were held at 1 p.m., Thursday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Fredericksburg.

Visitation and a rosary service were held Wednesday evening, April 8, at St. Gerard’s.

Arrangements were under the direction of Camero Funeral Home of San Antonio.

Ransleben was born Feb. 18, 1946, in Fredericksburg, the son of Henry Wilhelm Ransleben and Mildred Maria Reeh Ransleben. He married Alice Helen Kraus on July 2, 1967. She preceded him in death.

He was a plumber/pipefitter/welder with the Local 142 plumbers and pipefitters union in San Antonio.
