Sarah Kristine McLemore


SARAH KRISTINE McLEMORE

Sarah Kristine McLemore, 30, nee Jung, of Harper, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Ariz.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 15, at 10:30 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with interment following in the Harper Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, April 14.

Mrs. McLemore was born Dec. 23, 1983, in Kerrville, the daughter of Clifton David Jung and Wanda Katherine Spinks Jung. She married Marcus Edward McLemore on Aug. 2, 2008, in Harper, and he survives.

A Tarleton State University graduate with a degree in communications, Mrs. McLemore was currently an assistant manager with Walmart.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. McLemore is survived by her parents, David and Kathy Jung of Harper; one brother, Bobby Jung of Canyon Lake, and her grandmother, Kittie Conner of Harper.

William J. (Bill) Puffer

William J. (Bill) Puffer, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, April 13, 2014.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 24, at 2 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Roy Rhodes


ROY RHODES

Roy Rhodes, 72, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, April 11, 2014.

Funeral services, with military honors accorded by the U.S. Army, were held Tuesday, April 15, at 2:30 p.m. at the Family Chapel in Greenwood Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. William Breen officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Monday evening, April 14.

Rhodes was born Feb. 22, 1942, in Clare County, Mich., the son of John Henry Rhodes and Opal Mary Eichorn Rhodes. He married Rea Flock on June 6, 1964, in Beaverton, Mich., and she survives.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in Vietnam.

Rhodes was a businessman, doing various things during his lifetime, with the last being the sales of agriculture equipment thru Legend Hill Enterprises.

Max Strackbein


MAX STRACKBEIN

Max Strackbein, 86, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Hartmann officiating. Pam Hartmann was the vocalist.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Visitation was held Thursday evening at the funeral home.

Strackbein was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Fredericksburg, the son of Mary Strackbein.

He served with the U.S. Air Force in Korea, and later operated his own service station and also Strackbein Radiator.

Strackbein is survived by his wife, Bobbie Klett Strackbein of Pleasanton; two sons, Clayton Strackbein of Austin and Perry Strackbein and his wife, Cris, of Fredericksburg; and a daughter-in-law, Barbara Strackbein of Fredericksburg.

Survivors also include eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Geraldine Lang of Castell.

Ken Thomas

Ken Thomas, 73, of San Saba, died Friday, April 18, 2014, in Round Rock.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, April 22, at 2 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home in San Saba.

Thomas was born July 9, 1940, in Comfort, the son of Walter Thomas and Alice Kuettner Thomas. He married Maydelle Woerner on Feb. 22, 1961, in Nueva Laredo, Mexico, and she survives.

A 1958 graduate of Comfort High School, Thomas had been the owner of Thomas Small Engine since 1981.

In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by two daughters, two sons and spouses, including Todd and Melinda Thomas and Alesha and Collin Barta, all of San Saba; Rhonda Grady of Richland Springs, and Craig and Sha Thomas of Crane.

Survivors also include 15 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Nancy Thomas, of New Braunfels.

Mrs. Thomas P. Dennis

Mrs. Thomas P. Dennis, 89, nee Lorene Kern of Fredericksburg and formerly of Richardson, died Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Knopp Retirement Center.

A funeral mass was celebrated Tuesday, April 15, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Graveside services and interment of her cremains will take place at a later date in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in Richardson.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Raymond Keyser

Mrs. Raymond Keyser, 94, nee Crystle Fikes, of Mason, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Fredericksburg.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 18, at 11 a.m. at Mason Funeral Home in Mason. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m.

Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Loyal Valley Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Loyal Valley Cemetery, in care of Mason National Bank.

Clemens Oscar Klein

Clemens Oscar Klein, 91, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Comfort, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Knopp Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

No services are planned.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Klein was born Jan. 1, 1923, in Gillespie County, the son of Christian Klein and Emma Franciska Mosel Klein.

He joined the United States Army on Jan. 14, 1941, at Fort Sam Houston, and was discharged Aug. 12, 1945, with the rank of Private First Class.

On March 4, 1946, Klein joined the United States Navy and was discharged on Jan. 8, 1948 with the rank of Seaman First Class.

Klein worked as a veterinary assistant.

In addition to his parents, Klein was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers, including Cora Margaret Lang, Meta Louise Klein, Mabel Lena Roach, Betty Rita Koenig, Chester Klein, Lee Klein, Harvey Klein, Eugene Klein and Harry Theodore Klein.

Paul Charles McGuff


PAUL CHARLES McGUFF

Paul Charles McGuff, 60, of Johnson City, died Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service was held Monday, April 7, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Cedar Park.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

McGuff was born May 20, 1953, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Paul McGuff and Rosane Camblin McGuff.

McGuff served with the U.S. Air Force and later became a software engineer for Varco Int.

He is survived by two sons, Michael McGuff and his wife, Ivalania, of Hutto, and Matthew McGuff and his wife, Brittany Christensen of Round Rock; four grandchildren, and the mother of his children, Eleanor B. McGuff of Round Rock.
