Helen J. Schaeferkoeter


HELEN J. SCHAEFERKOETER

Helen J. Schaeferkoeter, 89, nee Polley, of Spring Branch, died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 25, at 10 a.m. at Crofts-Crow Funeral Home Chapel in Blanco with the Rev. Ken Green officiating.

Interment followed in the Blanco Cemetery.

Visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 24, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Schaeferkoeter was born July 21, 1925, the daughter of William Stadler Polley and Una Mae Hill Polley. She married Arnold Schaeferkoeter 68 years ago and he survives.

She was a graduate of Harlandale High School in San Antonio and worked for an insurance business for many years and in later years was an owner operator of A & H Store for 15 years.

Chris Falon Underwood

Chris Falon Underwood, 50, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m., at Sonday House Fellowship Church in Fredericksburg.

Memorials may be made to Sonday House Fellowship Church or to the charity of choice.

Royce Newton (Roy) Wrinkle


ROYCE (ROY) WRINKLE

Royce Newton (Roy) Wrinkle, 82, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Priddy with Ron Briley officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Friday evening, Aug. 22.

Wrinkle was born March 31, 1932, in Coke County, west of Bronte, the son of Dennis Tipton Wrinkle and Minnie Ola Wrinkle. He and his wife, Johanna, were married on March 25, 1951. She preceded him in death in 2008.

Over the years, Wrinkle was a farmer and rancher, a ranch hand, mechanic, blacksmith, welder, machinist and entrepreneur.

In the winter of 1958-59, he founded Wrinkle Welding and Machine Shop which he operated for more than 30 years.

In 1998, the Wrinkles retired and moved to Victoria where they were members of Northside Baptist Church.

Juan Antonio (Johnny) Castillo Sr.

Juan Antonio (Johnny) Castillo Sr., 43, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

A private service will be held at a later date.

Castillo was born Dec. 25, 1970, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Antonio Castillo and Rosa Sanchez Castillo. He married Cyna Anderson who survives.

In addition to his wife, Castillo is survived by six children, including Casey Gonzales and her husband, Beau, of Ballinger; Juan Castillo Jr., Ivan Castillo, Celine R. and Dominic O., all of Fredericksburg, and Angelina Castillo of Buda; one grandchild, and his mother, Rosa Castillo, of Fredericksburg.

He is also survived by four siblings, including Rosa Valdez and her husband, David, Saul Castillo, Jaime Castillo and Andrea Castillo, all of Fredericksburg.

His father preceded him in death.

Larry Dyer


LARRY DYER

Larry Dyer, 88, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2014.

Services were held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with Joe Kammlah officiating. Visitation was held beforehand.

Private burial of his ashes will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Dyer was born Feb. 20, 1926, in Abington, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence and Mira Dyer.

His first wife, Maria, preceded him in death. He married Maurine Jones on March 30, 1984, in Anahuac, and she survives.

Dyer was a retired captain with the United States Merchant Marine.

In addition to his wife, Dyer is survived by the following children: Christina Edwards and her husband, Ken, of Austin; Michael Dyer and his wife, Valerie Cadden, Houston; Becky Redman, Abilene; Tommy Wadley and his wife, Debra, Abilene; Jimmy Wadley and his wife, Poette, Abilene; Mike Wadley and his wife, Kathy, Baytown, and Byron Wadley and his wife, Jane, Longview.

Ramon Herrera

Ramon Herrera, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Ave Maria Hospice, St. Mary’s Women’s ACTS or to the charity of choice. 

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Robert W. (Bob) Langehennig

Robert W. (Bob) Langehennig, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 15, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Reverends Alan Williams and Pam Traver officiating.

Interment followed at Der Stadt Friedhof.

Visitation was held Thursday evening and Friday morning at the funeral chapel.

Langehennig was born June 20, 1922, in Fredericksburg, the son of Alanzo Langehennig and Alma Lina Hohmann Langehennig. He married Helen Pehl on Sept. 18, 1950, at St. Mary’s Rectory, and she survives.

He was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, worked as a farmer, rancher, rodeo cowboy, calf roper and raised hunting dogs.

In addition to his wife, Langehennig is survived by a brother, Walter Langehennig of Bandera.

Langehennig’s parents preceded him in death.

Thomas Edward (Tom) Staudt


THOMAS (TOM) STAUDT

Thomas Edward (Tom) Staudt, 62, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014.

A funeral mass was celebrated Wednesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and the church choir sang.

Interment followed at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Tuesday evening, Aug. 12.

Staudt was born Sept. 16, 1951, in San Benito, the son of Clemens Joseph Staudt and Marine Hodges Staudt. He married Sally Marie Haas on Dec. 23, 1970, in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Harlingen, and she survives.

A United States Navy veteran, Staudt served from 1970-1974.

In addition to his wife, Staudt is survived by two daughters, one son and spouses, including Sam and Kristin Staudt of Kyle, April Staudt of Fredericksburg and Amanda and Martin Hodo of Schertz.

Ramon Herrera, 89, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home where visitation was held Sunday, Aug. 17, and continues Monday, Aug. 18, from 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

A rosary service will be held Monday, Aug. 18, at 6 p.m., at the funeral chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Memorials may be made to Ave Maria Hospice, St. Mary’s Women’s ACTS, or to the charity of choice.

Robert W. (Bob) Langehennig, 92, of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5-7 p.m., and Friday, Aug. 15, from 7:30-10 a.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Linda Sue Vaughn Crenwelge, 55, of College Station, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014.

Visitation will be held Friday, Aug. 15, from 5-8 p.m., at Hillier Funeral Home, 2301 E. 29th Street, Bryan.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 16, at 2 p.m., at Hillier Funeral Home.
