Jackson (Jackie) Kuhlmann

Jackson (Jackie) Kuhlmann, 66, of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 2:30 p.m. at Schaetter Funeral Home Chapel with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Calvin Otte


MRS. CALVIN OTTE

Mrs. Calvin Otte, 64, nee Brenda Joyce Jordan of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, in San Antonio.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20, at 4 p.m. at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Priem officiating. Annabel Wilkinson was the pianist.

Interment followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Otte was born May 2, 1950, in Macon, Georgia, the daughter of Fred Jordan and Eva Irvin Jordan. She married Calvin Otte on May 28, 2005, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Otte is survived by one son, Wade Prewitt of Madison Park, Oklahoma; and two step-sons and their spouses, James and Kim Otte of Plano and William and Lindsey Otte of Nashville, Tennessee.

Survivors also include two step-grandchildren, and a sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Corkey Stovall of Lone Star.

Herbert Louis Pyka


HERBERT LOUIS PYKA

Herbert Louis Pyka, 81, of Fair Oaks Ranch, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

A funeral mass was celebrated Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Boerne.

Visitation and a rosary service were held beforehand at the church.

Interment took place Friday, Oct. 24, at 9:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Arrangements were under the direction of Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home of Boerne.

Pyka was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Fredericksburg, the son of Louis and Lillian Pyka. He married Pat Laquey who preceded him in death.

A St. Mary’s High School graduate, Pyka attended college at Texas A&M University and graduated from Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos with a master’s degree in industrial arts.

After enlisting and serving in the Army National Guard, Pyka transferred to the U.S. Army and was called to active duty, completing tours in South Korea and Vietnam.

Roger Arden Rietz, 68, of Doss, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014.

Graveside services and interment were held at 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 27, at the Precious Memories Cemetery located on the Lively ranch at Doss.

Memorials may be made to Ave Maria Hospice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Guadalupe Albiter, 59, nee Yolanda Medina of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, in a San Antonio hospital.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 29, from 4-7 p.m., and Thursday, Oct. 30, from 7-9:45 a.m.

A rosary service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at Schaetter Funeral Home until 9:45 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 30.

A funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 30, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with interment following at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or to the charity of choice.

Betty J. Creamer, 88, of San Antonio and formerly of Austin and Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014.

A memorial service is planned at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church with interment following in Fort Sam Houston.

Arrangements are pending with Puente and Sons in San Antonio.

Gregory (Greg) Dittmar, 53, of Dallas died Monday, Oct. 20, 2014.

A memorial service will be held Friday, Oct. 24, at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 6306 Kenwood Ave., in Dallas.

Sparkman-Crain Funeral Home in Dallas is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Chester Eckhardt


MRS. CHESTER ECKHARDT

Mrs. Chester Eckhardt, 75, nee Mildred Klinksiek of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014.

Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 17, at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Cave Creek with the Rev. Gary E. Mayer officiating. Jeraldine Pehl was the organist.

Interment followed in the church cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation was held on Thursday evening.

Mrs. Eckhardt was born Jan. 12, 1939, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Helmuth Klinksiek and Elsie Keller Klinksiek. She was the first baby born in Fredericksburg that year.

She married Chester Eckhardt on May 5, 1984, in St. Paul Lutheran Church at Cave Creek, and he survives.

Mrs. Eckhardt began her working career at the Fredericksburg Radio Post while still in high school and continued there for 20 years. She then worked at Security State Bank and Trust for several years.

Mrs. Lorina Ruth Edson

Mrs. Lorina Ruth Edson, 86, nee Klaerner, of Fredericksburg died Friday, Oct. 17, 2014, in the Tri Star Care Center.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Foster officiating.

Interment followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service.

Mrs. Edson was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Otto Klaerner and Leola Everett Klaerner.

She married Harold Edson in 1956, and he preceded her in death.

Survivors include a sister and spouse, Bernice and Don Holloway of Fredericksburg; a brother-in-law, Louis Dietrich of Harper, and a sister-in-law, Yvonne, Mrs. Kermit Klaerner of Fredericksburg.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Edson was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Dietrich, and two brothers, Kermit Klaerner and Sam Klaerner.
