David Andrew Treiber

David Andrew Treiber, 45, of Waring, died Sunday, April 24, 2016.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home of Comfort where visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday, April 29, and from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, April 30.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 30, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort, with interment following in the Zoeller Family Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Peterson Hospice, Waring Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Mrs. Henry Wurzburg


MRS. HENRY WURZBURG

Mrs. Henry Wurzburg, 70, nee Arlene Ross of Austin, died Jan. 26, 2016.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 24, at the Cardinal Room at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Golf Course.

Mrs. Wurzburg was born Dec. 8, 1945, in Alvin, the daughter of Lloyd Ross and Lois Watson Ross. She married Henry Wurzburg who survives.

She attended Alamo Heights High School where she was the drum major of the marching band.

She was a realtor.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wurzburg is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Karie Lardon of Flower Mound, and one granddaughter.

She is also survived by a sister, Sheryl Cooper of Farmersville, Louisiana, and her mother, Lois Ross of Fredericksburg.

Mrs. Wurzburg’s father preceded her in death.

Memorials may be made to the ASPCA.

Verne Allen


VERNE ALLEN

Verne Allen, 75, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, March 28, 2016.

A celebration of his life was held Sunday afternoon, April 17, at the Austin Street Java Haus.

Arrangements and cremation were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Allen was born April 13, 1940, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Roscoe Allen and Florence Beyers Allen. He married Cornelia (Binky) Buck and she survives.

A United States Air Force veteran, Allen served for 24 years and retired as a colonel.

He and his wife owned and operated Austin Street Java Haus for 20 years.

In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by a daughter, Lisa Allen of Liberty Hill, and a stepson, James Wilson and his wife, Karin, of Omaha, Nebraska, and two granddaughters.

He is also survived by the following siblings: James Allen and his wife, Patricia of Houston; Daniel Allen and his wife, Theresa of Mt. Vernon, Washington, and Vickie McNeese of Fort Collins, Colorado.

Mrs. Michael E. Friederich

Mrs. Michael E. Friederich, 57, nee Kelly Jean Martin of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 13, 2016.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 19, at the Marienkirche.

Interment of the cremains is planned at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the SPCA or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Allen J. Hagel


MRS. ALLEN J. HAGEL

Mrs. Allen J. Hagel, 78, nee Silverlee Anna Olga Crenwelge of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, April 9, 2016, in Fort Worth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Interment followed in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation and a vigil-rosary service led by Deacon Patrick Klein were held Tuesday evening at St. Mary’s Catholic Church where visitation continued Wednesday morning.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hagel was born Oct. 19, 1937, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Frederick Carl (Fred) Crenwelge and Ida Bertha Stein Crenwelge. She married Allen James Hagel on Sept. 13, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fredericksburg. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1995.

After graduating from St. Mary’s High School, Mrs. Hagel attended Durham’s Business School in Austin.

Nora Lee Hammock


NORA LEE HAMMOCK

Nora Lee Hammock, 93, nee Brazil, of Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016.

A memorial service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 16, at Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Ann Hoch officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hammock was born in Gatesville on Oct. 18, 1922, the daughter of Finis Marvin Brazil and Laudie Campbell Brazil. She married A.W. (John) Hammock on June 18, 1946, in Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1992.

The Hammocks lived in various cities in West Texas before retiring to Fredericksburg in 1975.

She was employed as a reservation and ticket agent with American Airlines and managed a travel agency for 20 years when they resided in Odessa.

Her years as a hospital volunteer began in Snyder with Cogwell Memorial Hospital for six years, and continued for many years in Fredericksburg. She served as president of the auxiliaries at both hospitals.

Mrs. Alois W. Klein


MRS. ALOIS W. KLEIN

Mrs. Alois W. Klein, 83, nee Clifteen Erna Klein of Stonewall, died Thursday, April 7, 2016, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, April 11, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall with the Rev. Jim Harnan officiating. DeAnn Hampton was the organist, and Rhonda Schaetter, the vocalist.

Interment followed in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation and a vigil service were held Sunday evening, April 10.

Mrs. Klein was born Aug. 16, 1932, in Gillespie County, the daughter of Helmuth Klein and Olga Pehl Klein. She married Alois W. Klein on May 21, 1952, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Stonewall. He preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 2009.

She worked as a teacher’s aide/secretary at the Stonewall Elementary School from 1968-1993, retiring after 25 years.

Steven Alan Mida, 58, of Robert Lee, died Saturday, April 16, 2016.

An honorary police memorial service was held at 2 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 20, at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo.

Memorials may be made to the Colon Cancer Coalition.

Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua


MRS. FRED SCHANDUA

Mrs. Joseph (Fred) Schandua, 75, nee Sharon Leifeste of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab Center.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 9, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with Joe McSparin officiating.

Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery with Joseph Covert leading the graveside service.

Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Schandua was born Oct. 14, 1940, in Mason, the daughter of John Clarence Leifeste and Odessa Churchwell Leifeste. She married Joseph Frederick (Fred) Schandua on Dec. 2, 1977, in Fredericksburg and he survives.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schandua is survived by one daughter, one son and spouses, Terry and Cindy Moehle of Port Lavaca and Cindy and Rick Moore of College Station, and a step-son and spouse, James and Dolores Schandua of Corpus Christi.

Kurt Charles Weinheimer

Kurt Charles Weinheimer, 80, of Fredericksburg and formerly of Stonewall, died Monday, April 18, 2016, at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehab Center.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, and from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home with interment following in the Stonewall Community Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice or to the charity of choice.
