Wheeler B. Annen


WHEELER B. ANNEN

Wheeler B. Annen, 96, of Fredericksburg, died Monday, Aug. 17, 2015.

A private service and distribution of the cremains is planned at a later date.

After marrying Henry J. Annen, the couple settled in Corpus Christi in 1948 where they established H.J. Annen Construction Co. for which she was the bookkeeper and secretary.

As an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church, she spent many hours of service in various groups, and was a volunteer at Driscoll Children’s Hospital.

In 2005, Mrs. Annen moved to Fredericksburg where she became a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and volunteered at the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Annen is survived by her daughter, Annette Annen of Fredericksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers and a sister; her husband, and her son, Tim J. Annen.

Memorials may be made to any hospice organization or to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

John F. Baker


JOHN F. BAKER

John F. Baker, 64, of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015.

A memorial service was held at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Arrangements were under the direction of Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Baker was born Feb. 2, 1951, in Tyler, the son of Haywood Baker and Margie Burks Baker. He married Peggy McKenzie on May 20, 1972, and she survives.

For 33 years, he worked as a research technician at Dow Chemical in Freeport.

He retired and moved to Fredericksburg in 2006.

In addition to his wife, Baker is survived by three sons, two daughters and spouses, including Brady and Lahree Baker, Amber and Joseph Covert and Brittany and Tim Quinn, all of Fredericksburg; Andy and Leticia Baker, of Belize, and Jade and Crysta Baker of Tuxedo Park, New York.

Survivors also include six grandchildren; his mother, Margie Baker Cobb, and sister, Linda Wehrly, both of Marysville, California.

August A. (Andy) Brandon


AUGUST A. 'ANDY' BRANDON

August A. (Andy) Brandon, 72, of Fredericksburg, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, in the chapel of Fredericksburg Funeral Home with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating.

Brandon was born April 16, 1943, in Fredericksburg, the son of Andrew Brandon and Mathilda Lott Brandon.

He attended Morris Ranch School and Fredericksburg High School, and worked as a diesel mechanic.

Brandon is survived by two sons, Cory Brandon of Doss, and Eddie Brandon and his wife, Angela of Euless, and one granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betsy Feller.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice.

Joy Hitzfeld Golden


JOY HITZFELD GOLDEN

Joy Hitzfeld Golden, 90, of Del Norte, Colorado, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Golden was born May 17, 1925, in Fredericksburg, the daughter of Henry and Meltonie Hitzfeld. She married Oscar Golden in 1946, and he survives.

She was a 1942 Fredericksburg High School graduate.

After her children started school, she entered college and received her teaching and master’s degrees and taught in Hereford for 10 years.

After moving to Del Norte, Colorado, in 1974, Mrs. Golden taught in the elementary school for 13 years before retiring. She was recognized for her many years of active support of the library.

Prior to marriage, she worked at Fredericksburg Publishing Co., Inc.

Monroe Carl Heinemann


MONROE CARL HEINEMANN

Monroe Carl Heinemann, 99, of Fredericksburg died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at Hill Country Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 10, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Msgr. Enda McKenna officiating. Mary Ann Murchison was the pianist, and Tim Cervantes, the vocalist.

Graveside services and entombment with military honors followed in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum.

Schaetter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements were a vigil service was held on Sunday, Aug. 9, and visitation was held on Sunday and Monday.

Heinemann was born July 14, 1916, in Gillespie County, the son of Henry H. Heinemann and Lydia Klett Heinemann. He married Minnie Durst on Nov. 12, 1942, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church and she preceded him in death on Nov. 22, 2011.

He served in the United States Army from Nov. 25, 1940, to July 31, 1945, and was discharged as a sergeant. He received numerous medals for his service.

Jimmie Homilius

Jimmie Homilius, 80, of Comfort, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 20, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort.

Graveside services with military honors and interment of the cremains will follow in the Comfort Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort.

Memorials may be made to Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Comfort Volunteer Fire Department or to the charity of choice.

Peter Kleck, 87, of San Antonio and formerly of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015.

A celebration of life was held Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 18, at Fredericksburg Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.

Julean Franco Martinez

Julean Franco Martinez, 62, of Mason, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 13, at Leatherwood Memorial Chapels in Mason with the Rev. Melvin Dornak officiating.

Cremation followed the service.

A rosary service was held Wednesday evening, Aug. 12, at the funeral chapel.

Martinez was born Nov. 28, 1952, in Mason, the son of Rogelio Martinez and Viola Vaca Martinez. He married Rosalinda Rodriguez on Sept. 20, 1975, in Mason and she survives.

A lifelong resident of Mason, Martinez was a custom sheep shearer and wood cutter for many years. He had recently begun working for the City of Brady. 

 In addition to his wife, Martinez is survived by two sons, Baldamar Martinez of Beaumont and Salvador Martinez of Mason; one daughter, April Sallee of San Angelo, and 13 grandchildren.

Mrs. Conrad Matysiak Sr., 93, nee Kathlyn Grodhaus of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehab.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, with interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.

Arrangements were under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home.

Mrs. Conrad Matysiak Sr., 93, nee Kathlyn Grodhaus of Fredericksburg, died Friday, Aug. 14, 2015, at Windcrest Nursing and Rehab.

Arrangements are under the direction of Schaetter Funeral Home where visitation will be held Monday, Aug. 17, from 4-6 p.m., and Tuesday, Aug. 18, from 7-8:15 a.m.

Visitation will continue at Fredericksburg United Methodist Church from 9-10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 18, where the funeral will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment follows at Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Stonewall Volunteer Fire Department, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of choice.
