Some closing doors for the fair
The carnival’s in town and workers with Moore’s Greater Shows were busy over the weekend at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds cleaning, servicing and putting up the various rides for the 126th Gillespie County Fair which runs Thursday through Sunday. In keeping with tradition, some businesses and offices will be closing their doors on Friday in observance of the Gillespie County Fair.
City offices will be closing at noon, and county offices will be closed all day on Friday.
Federal offices will be open for business as usual on Friday and state offices will be observing their regular business hours. (Some state offices are normally closed on Fridays.)
Some businesses will also be closing their doors for the entire day on Friday while others will close only during the parade.
For specific information on holiday closings, refer to the advertisements found elsewhere in this issue of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
•Federal offices: Open on Friday.
•State offices: State offices will be observing regular schedules on Friday. (Some state offices are normally closed on Friday.)
•County offices: Closed on Friday.
•City offices: Closing at noon on Friday.
•Open for business as usual on Friday. All services will be offered by the U.S. Postal Service.
•Trash collection: Regular trash collection schedules will be observed on Friday. However, those customers who normally have their trash picked up on Friday are reminded to have their garbage out by 7 a.m.
•Recycling Center: The Recycling Center will close at noon on Friday and will be open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
•Landfill: The landfill will close at noon on Friday and will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
•The Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post will also be closed on Friday.
•With the exception of St. Mary’s School, all other students are still on summer break.
And, St. Mary’s students will have their first holiday on Friday after starting school earlier this week on Monday.
Students in the Fredericksburg Independent School District, Doss Common Consolidated School District, Harper Independent School District and Ambleside School will all return to the classrooms on Monday, Aug. 25.
Providence Hall begins on Tuesday, Aug. 26, and Heritage School starts on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
Fredericksburg Christian School students will report to class on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
