Dr Pepper/Babolat Open to draw netters this weekend

Over 100 participants have signed up for the 29th Annual Fredericksburg Dr Pepper/Babolat Junior Open this Friday through Sunday, July 25-27.

“That will translate into about 225 entries with kids playing singles, doubles and mixed doubles,” said Randall King, organizer of the event for the Fredericksburg Tennis Association.

Singles competition will begin Friday at 8 a.m. on courts at the Fredericksburg High School campus and at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park.

All main draw matches will be completed at FHS, while consolation matches will be finished out at the city park on Friday.

Doubles action takes over the couts on Saturday morning, with all matches in that division to be played at the high school’s HEB Tennis Center.

And, mixed doubles may play a round Saturday evening, but finish play early Sunday afternoon, again at the high school courts, King said.

Tournaments in Marble Falls and Uvalde that coincide with this weekend’s Dr Pepper Open have been competitive, drawing some entries away.
