Judy Hutcherson has been named 2014 honoree by the Misión de Candelilla board of directors.
Misión de Candelilla is a nonprofit Christian service organization that conducts medical missions into Coahuila and Chihuahua, Mexico.
The award is given each year to an individual or group for exemplary service, not only for the mission’s own work, but for volunteer efforts to other organizations around the world, said Curtis Allerkamp, executive director.
“Judy Hutcherson exemplifies the perfect honoree,” Allerkamp said. “She will be honored at our annual community-wide fund-raiser, Fiesta 2014, which will be held Aug. 2 at the Oak Hills Church on Tivydale Road.”
Allerkamp said Hutcherson has volunteered in her capacity as a registered nurse for many years, accompanying several medical missions each year.
“Not only has Judy provided her medical expertise and skills to our work, she has also served as chairman of our board of directors for last year,” Allerkamp said. “Her recent work in Mexico with our newly-acquired sonogram has given us an added dimension beyond just basic primary health care offerings. She learned to use the new equipment.”
