Youth advance to sectional play

The remaining Fredericksburg Little League All-Stars enjoyed a weekend of rest as they geared up for this week’s sectional tournaments across the state.
Fredericksburg’s Junior Baseball All-Stars faced off against Burnet on Tuesday, July 1, in the District 26 Championship. The All-Stars defeated Burnet 5-4, and earned the right to compete in the Section 3 tournament.
The All-Stars had a slow start to the game against Kerrville and fell behind 3-0, but a rally in the fourth inning tied the game 3-3.
In the fifth inning, Fredericksburg brought home its fourth run. The two teams traded runs in the remaining innings to get to the final score.
On the mound, Jose Viveros helped the All-Stars prevail over Kerrville.
The boys began their sectional tournament on Tuesday, July 8, at 5 Diamonds Little League Fields in San Antonio. Complete information on that game can be found online and in next week’s issue of the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post.
The Junior Softball All-Stars had a bye week to prepare for their sectional tournament.
The girls play their first sectional game at 6 p.m., Wednesday, July 9, at the 5 Diamonds Little League Fields in San Antonio against Eagle Pass.
The Major Softball All-Stars played in the district championship game on Tuesday, July 1.
