Gates to open Saturday for horse races
Guns, jewelry, gift certificates, hunting and fishing equipment and more totaling an estimated $33,000 will be given away at Scholarship Fest on Saturday night at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds. Two events — live pari-mutuel horse racing and the Scholarship Fest — have been combined into one weekend to celebrate the Independence Day holiday at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds.
The July Fourth Racing Festival, featuring live pari-mutuel horse races, will take place on Friday and Saturday, July 4-5, while the 18th Annual Scholarship Fest will take place on Saturday evening, July 5.
Both events are sponsored by the Gillespie County Fair and Festivals Association, Inc.
And for the first time, advance tickets for all four race meet weekends, Scholarship Fest, Night In Old Fredericksburg, the 126th Gillespie County Fair and the Fredericksburg PBR are now available for online purchase.

Horse Racing Festival
Kicking off the eight-day live pari-mutuel horse racing season at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds will be the July Fourth Racing Festival on Friday and Saturday, July 4-5.
Gates open at 11 a.m. each day and post time each day is 1 p.m.
Race admission is $7 for general admission, $3 for children 6 to 15 years of age and free for children five and under.
Reserved seats are $10 per seat and box seats are $15.
Scholarship Fest will be celebrated on Saturday, July 5, at the Gillespie County Fair Grounds, immediately following the races.
Admission tickets are $25, and include general admission to the races on Saturday.
