Newcomer among officers elected for school board
By Richard Zowie —
The Fredericksburg Independent School District trustees elected new officers for 2014-2015 and renewed four state waiver requests at their June 9 regular meeting at the Central Administration Office.
The trustees will next meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 16, at the central office to discuss the school district’s budget that will determine the tax rate to be adopted.
FISD board reorganizes
The trustees unanimously elected Mark Cornett as board president, Jerry Durst as vice president and Kerinne Herber as the secretary.
The vote was 6-0 (Cornett was not at the meeting).
Cornett had served as secretary. He replaces outgoing president Lorrie Hess, who will remain as a trustee.
Durst replaced Leola Mills, who did not run for a new term.
“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to work with these new officers,” said FISD superintendent Dr. Eric Wright. “They have a passion for education and our community and I know that they will keep our students at the forefront of all decisions. I also would like to thank our outgoing officers for their hard work and dedication to the district. They were outstanding in their leadership roles.”
