Track, cross country athletes honored

Fredericksburg High School track and cross country athletes were recently honored for their 2013-2014 achievements during a banquet held May 28.

Senior cross country runner, Alex Herbig was named to the THSCA Academic All-State First Team. Senior Serena Rivera and junior Hannah Cheeseman were both named to 27-3A Academic All-District Team for cross country.

Four girls were named to 27-3A Academic All-District including junior Hannah Embrey, and freshmen Clarissa Sanchez, Lisette Vallejo and Mandy Yocham.

Named to the 27-3A Academic All-District Team for boys’ cross country were seniors Chase Junell and Travis Koenig and juniors Jose Meza and Nick James.

Senior Ricardo Martinez received THSCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention. Koenig also received CCCAT Academic All-State and THSCA Academic All-State First Team.

Sophomore Fabian Reyes and freshmen Jesus Aguilar, Ian Kendrick and Corbin Styles all received Academic All-District.

Seniors Katelyn Immel, Monica Montgomery and Catherine Romanick received THSCA Academic All-State First Team and TGCA 3A Academic All-State.

Seniors Victoria Henke and Serena Rivera both received THSCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention.

Twenty-two track girls received Academic All-District, including seniors Henke, Immel, Montgomery, Katelyn Reed, Cory Remschel, Rivera, Romanick, Brooke Segner and Ciera Wilke, juniors Hanna Castillo, Paxten Keyser, Ashley Penick, Alexia Rodriguez and Shelbi Schneider, sophomores Jessica Cadena, Alyssa Hohn, Lauren Smith, Madison Trousdale, Chase Whiting and Kyra Wunderlich, freshmen Emily Myers and Clarissa Sanchez.

Seniors Matthew McManigle and Edward Williams were named to THSCA Academic All-State First Team. Koenig was named to THSCA Academic All-State Second Team. Senior Adolfo Enciso received THSCA Academic All-State Honorable Mention. Senior William Scudder received THSCA Academic All-State Elite Team.

The 17 boys named to Academic All-District were seniors Enciso, Junell, Koenig, Daniel Rojas, McManigle and Williams, juniors Garret Duckworth, Nick James, Donovan Lozano, Jake Mohr, Samuel Studebaker and Bryce Trois, sophomores Devin Bylsma, Mitchell Edwards, Elliot Hale and Blake Moffett, and freshman Wade Davis.

Rivera and Koenig were named Ms. and Mr. Senior Cross County and Lindcy Cisneros and Daniel Rojas were named Ms. and Mr. Senior Track.

The Senior awards are given to athletes that made the biggest impact for the team during the season and led by example on the track.

Alexia Rodriguez and Junell were named Ms. and Mr. Battlin’ Billie Cross Country. Hanna Casillo and Studebaker received Ms. and Mr. Battlin’ Billie Track.

To be given the Battlin’ Billie Award an athlete who is a perfect representation of the program throughout the entire season at practices and at meets.

Named as the number one athletes in the program for 2014 were Clarissa Sanchez, Ms. Cross Country; Juan Hernandez-Ortega, Mr. Cross Country; Whiting, Ms. Track, and McManigle, Mr. Track.
