Three Billies to compete at state track
Three Fredericksburg High School athletes will represent their school this weekend at the University Interscholastic League 3A State Track and Field Meet, held at the University of Texas in Austin.
Sophomore Lauren Smith will compete Friday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. in the girls’ pole vault, junior Sam Studebaker will compete in the boys’ 800 meter run Saturday around 12:15 p.m. followed by sophomore Chase Whiting, who will run in the girls’ 100 meter hurdles Saturday around 12:20 p.m.
“For the past week and half, our three athletes have been working extremely hard and are focused to attempt to represent FHS,” head coach Dan Aldrich said. “The chance of making it to state each year in 3A is around 1.6 percent. That is a very small chance and we are excited about the opportunity that lies before us this weekend. For all three athletes, the chance of medaling in the top three spots is closer that some may think.”
