Gerhard Milton Eichholz
Gerhard Milton Eichholz, 92, of Comfort, died Wednesday, May 1, 2014, at Trinity Mission Health and Rehab Center in Comfort.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort with the Rev. Larry Adams officiating.
Afterwards, the body was cremated, with interment of the cremains planned at a later date.
Visitation was held Friday evening and Saturday morning at the funeral chapel.
Eichholz was born June 30, 1921, in Comfort, the son of Max Eichholz and Emma Toepfer Eichholz. He married Ruby Seidensticker on July 28, 1959, in Boerne. She preceded him in death.
A United States Army veteran, Eichholz enlisted on Sept. 23, 1942, at Fort Sam Houston and was discharged Sept. 28, 1945, at Fort McPherson, Georgia, attaining the rank of tech sergeant. He received numerous awards and citations for his service.
Eichholz is survived by two sons, Otto Eichholz and Larry Eichholz and his wife, Lorrie, all of Comfort.
Survivors also include one granddaughter and three sisters, including Gertrude Koennecke of Fredericksburg, Elizabeth Seidensticker of Comfort and Doris Malukas of San Antonio.
Memorials may be made to the Comfort Volunteer Fire Department, Comfort EMS or to the charity of choice.
