FHS softball falls at area

The top-ranked 3A team in Texas proved to be too much for the Fredericksburg High School varsity softball team as the Billies fell 12-0 to La Grange Thursday evening at Austin Westlake High School.

Fredericksburg finished the season at 22-12, winning a bi-district championship over Pleasanton last week.

“I was very proud of this team coming together in my first year,” FHS head coach Mitchel Etzel said. “We had many kids in new positions and new to varsity. The seniors were great leaders all year long. We just unfortunately were in a tough draw versus La Grange.”

The Leopards hit a pair of home runs on their way to a six-run first inning.

“Our pitching and defense stepped up in the second and third to hold the potent offense scoreless,” Etzel said.
